1952 Salisbury - British Railways Original Vintage Poster
About the Item
Showing the visit of King Charles II in 1651, this wonderful poster was part of a small series by the company with artwork from Claude Henry Buckle to promote the historical significance of British cities.
With Salisbury Cathedral in the backdrop behind a sunny and busy scene, the poster reads "Salisbury - Where History Lingers". The poster was published by the Railway Executive (Southern Region), and printed in Great Britain by Jordison & Co Ltd. Claude Henry Buckle was a well established commercial artist for railway posters including working with GWR, LMS, SR & British Railways.
The piece is backed on museum quality linen to ensure its preservation for the decades to come and is in fantastic near mint condition with vibrant colour.
