Antique print titled 'Goldie, High Class Arab'. Antique print of Goldie, a high class Arab. Original colour-printed lithograph by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son, after an 1873 oil painting by Sheldon Williams, for Samuel Sidney’s “The Book of the Horse” printed by Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co of London, Paris and New York circa 1874.
At the end of the nineteenth century, the quality of superb chromolithographic illustrations for publication was exceptional. Many of the colour-printed lithographs for Cassells Book of the Horse were finished with hand-colour and highlighting. They are some of the finest illustrations that have ever been printed of horses.
