About the Item

Condemned Buildings lithographic print by Frances Senska, Bozeman, Montana. Circa 1946. Entitled on the backing cardboard in pencil and signed on front bottom margin, Sensak '46. Frances Senska was born and raised in Montana and is primarily known for her printmaking, pottery and ceramics. This wonderful piece reveals a dilapidated city block that could be Anywhere, USA and is most likely in Bozeman, Montana. Buildings and fences list and teeter. Windows are broken. Businesses are vacant and there are the remains of a once vibrant block. Senska was clearly influenced by the art of the WPA period and this was possibly a place that was hard hit by The Depression of the 1930s. Good overall condition. Unframed. The colors are still vibrant. Some adhesive tape residue in the margins. No visible rips, tears or restorations. Some waviness to the paper due to its very light quality. The print sheet measures approximately 17.75" wide 14.25" high.
