John O'Hara, The xxxxxxx Best, 3-Color Serigraph

By John O'Hara

Located in SAINT LOUIS, MO

John O'Hara's famous The xxxxxxx Best painting is now a 3-Color Serigraph on recycled Archival Hemp Paper. Hand signed by the artist. This work is unframed. 27.5 x 27.5 inches Forsyth (Saint Louis) is proud to be the exclusive gallery of John O'Hara (American, b. 1963). O'Hara is a self-taught artist from St. Louis and is known for his large-scale abstract decorative pieces. His medium of choice is encaustic—a mixture of pigments and beeswax and he allows the material to dictate color, line and texture. His works often feature natural and organic forms and incorporate both figural and abstract elements. O'Hara began his art career in 2018 and collectors and designers quickly took notice. His work is included in both public and private collections around the world. Michael Kors selected O'Hara's Tar series paintings for his Milan, Paris, and New York showrooms and his flagship store in London. O'Hara's Brands on Yellow is hanging in the lounge of New Orleans luxury boutique hotel, Maison de la Luz...

Mid-19th Century American Stationary with Manuscript Letter, Signed 1854
Mid-19th Century American Stationary with Manuscript Letter, Signed 1854

Mid-19th Century American Stationary with Manuscript Letter, Signed 1854

Located in Langweer, NL

American stationery with in the top the following text printed: E pluribus unum – Latin for "Out of many, one" (also translated as "One out of many" or "One from many") – is a traditional motto of the United States, appearing on the Great Seal along with Annuit cœptis (Latin for "he approves the undertaking [lit. 'things undertaken']") and Novus ordo seclorum (Latin for "New order of the ages"); its inclusion on the seal was approved by an Act of Congress in 1782. While its status as national motto was for many years unofficial, E pluribus unum was still considered the de facto motto of the United States from its early history. Eventually, the United States Congress passed an act (H. J. Resolution 396), adopting "In God We Trust" as the official motto in 1956. The thirteen letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM makes its use symbolic of the thirteen original states like the thirteen stripes on the US flag. The meaning of the phrase originates from the concept that out of the union of the original Thirteen Colonies emerged a new single nation. It is emblazoned across the scroll and clenched in the eagle's beak on the Great Seal of the United States. (Source: wikipedia) Text below the portraits: "The Presidents of our Great Republic." Letter paper with hand-colored engraving showing the portraits of the 14 presidents of the USA from George Washington up to Franklin Pierce...

This remarkable and stunning set of six sensuous prints, highlighted in gold and silver ink, was published and bound by John Henry Nash in 1926 to honor the life of his frequent collaborator, Ray Frederick Coyle. Coyle had died an early death, prompting Nash to issue this volume in a limited edition of 210 (this example is number 54), dedicating it to Albert Maurice Bender and William Randolph Keltie Young. Nash had established his own press 10 years before, and was dubbed by one admirer "The Aldus of San Francisco."
