Antique portrait titled 'John Thurlow, Secretary to Oliver Cromwell'. Old portrait of John Thurloe. John Thurloe (1616-1668) of Great Milton in Oxfordshire and of Lincoln's Inn, was a secretary to the council of state in Protectorate England and spymaster for Oliver Cromwell. This print originates from 'The Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britain, engraven by Mr. Houbracken, and Mr. Vertuewith their Lives and Characters by Thomas Birch, A.M., F.R.S'. Artists and Engravers: Published in London by John and Paul Knapton 1742-1756. Condition: Very good, original text page included. Please study image carefully. Date: c.1750 Overall size: 35 x 53 cm.
