About the Item
This is a hand spun, hand woven and hand painted cotton cloth for which an entire famous African village takes part in its creation. Women of the Korhoga Tribe spin the cotton, while the men weave and sew the cloth into a large canvas. Korhogo cloth comes in neutral and earthy tones like browns and creams.The women make fermented dye which is painted onto the story cloth. Each figure represents symbolic meaning. Each cloth tells a unique story. They are decorated with symbols of humans and animals, all of which are rooted in Senufo culture and mythology. The animals at the top represent fertility and abundance. Gorgeous Antique Persian Oriental hand woven wool on cotton diamond leaf pattern & floral rug wall hanging. This wall hanging is a smaller piece cut from a larger rug and the edges have been bound. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are some small old holes on the bottom half. You have to search to find.
