Intricate bead work,, Unusual applied mirrors,, Some bleed through dis-coloration (see photo) This hand made and hand beaded textile is from Gujarat state in northwest India. Traditionally a bride would weave this to cover the gifts at the wedding. They are now made and used as wall hangings and decoration.

I sourced this item at the vintage market in Marrakech, Morocco. I heard from the people I got it from that it was found in a big, ancient house in Casablanca that was full of textiles and furnitures from different parts of the world.
From what I read, these handmade tapestry are original from a village called Kutch, western region of Gujarat in India. This work is traditionally made by women only. The material used are cotton and silk in a rich and vibrant embroidered patchwork composition. Very colorful, this one features birds, peacocks, elephants, floral designs and tiny pieces of mirror. Such a beautiful piece of art!
Approximate dimensions are 7.1x8.5feet / 217x260cm.
There is only one available.
This item is obviously real vintage, meaning that it has been used already. It will come with signs of wear, which makes it unique and charming. There's some color bleeding, missing, rusted mirrors...

Fabulous large Kakaga Burmese bead embroidered adorned with sequins and beads tapestry wall hanging .
This vintage handcrafted needlework wall hanging tapestry shows ten different scenes from the ancient epic Hindu poem, the Ramayana, or from Buddhist mythology.
You can imagine how many hours went into producing this piece of work.
The figures are sewn using a combination of metallic threads and adorned with sequins, beads and glass stones.
Most Kalagas are best hung in a frame but not under glass so that the detail and texture can be fully appreciated.
They can also be hung as-is without a frame.
Such a large tapestry could take months to complete.
