Victorian Gem Set Granulated Gold Etruscan Revival Bracelet

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

No stops barred from the superb granulated gold details of this etruscan revival bracelet. The stones of saturated color, are set amidst the textured surface of the bangle. Like a museum piece from early Etruscan times, the granulation varies in size from tiny beads of gold smaller than a pin head to pin head diameter. It is placed in concentric circles and wraps around borders. Twisted gold rope and teardrops of applied gold are joined by curls and columns of the precious metal. Granulation is the art in which a goldsmith's hand makes and sets miniscule bits of gold on top of a gold background. This bracelet shows the art done with masterful technique. In ancient jewelry, the tiny balls of gold were attached without the use of solder. 19th century jewelers were stumped as to the technique used. Castellani and Giuiano, Italian masters of jewelry art worked until they succeeded in discovering a way to emulate the Etruscan jewels.
This exceptional hinged bracelet dates to 1860. The metal is 15kt gold which is typically English. There is an attached safety chain. The bracelet condition is perfect. It is of the quality that an antique collector seeks but rarely discovers. Measurement of interior when fully open 3 and 1/8 in. Closed 2 3/8 in. Height 5/8 in. Condition :Perfect.
