About the Item

THIS IS A STUNNING EGYPTIAN REVIVAL EYE OF HORUS BANGLE BRACELET DATING TO THE ART DECO PERIOD WITH MAGNIFICENT IMAGES IN ENAMEL. This bracelet is truly magnificent. And it is so rare to find these antique Art Deco Egyptian Revival jewels. The fabulous bangle bracelet has dramatic powerful images in blue, black and white enamel of the Eye of Horus. On either side of the hinges are wonderful enamel designs in red, turquoise, blue and black enamel. The bracelet is gilt metal. The bracelet opens to fit over the wrist with a removable pin mechanism. The bracelet dates to the Art Deco period, circa 1910 - 1930. For centuries, Ancient Egypt has held the fascination of the public and continues to inspire artists and designers alike. With the discoveries of Egyptian tombs, and the treasures within, in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the exotically opulent lives of the Pharaohs were beyond anyone’s imagination. Of all the precious objects unearthed in the tombs, the lavish jewels were perhaps the most fascinating for their extravagance and never-before-seen symbolism. The Roaring Twenties and the period’s Art Deco jewelry embraced the vivid contrasting colors, motifs, and symbols more daringly than ever before. Whether the jewels were complete, faithful reproductions or real artifacts preciously decorated in similar style, the Egyptian Revival jewelry during the Art Deco era is the most lavish and magnificent. Ancient Egyptian imagery includes wondrous depictions of scarab beetles, sphinxes, pharaohs, lotus flowers and hieroglyphics. Eye of Horus The Eye of Horus is a powerful symbol in ancient Egyptian culture representing protection, health, and restoration. It is associated with the falcon-headed god Horus. The eye is often depicted as a stylized eye with various geometric elements. The interior of the bracelet is 7.5 inches around. The interior is 2.25 inches across N to S and 2.25 inches E to W. The bracelet is 1.5 inches (4cm) wide at the widest portion. The bracelet has a gold wash. The bracelet weighs 74.1 grams.
