About the Item

This is a wonderful Norwegian Guilloche Enamel Art Deco Solje Brooch in Sterling Silver. The "Solje" brooch was often used as part of the traditional Norwegian folk costume known as the Bunad. This jewel is marked 925 for sterling silver. It has gorgeous pale blue green and pink, peach colored enamel. The articulated sections are fabulous. The silver work is a delicate open work filigree design. The top section has the guilloche enamel behind the silver work which is stunning. The pearl looking pieces are actually enamel. The piece is hallmarked with a maker's mark but I am not able to identify it. This is one of the most beautiful enamel Solje Brooches from Norway and it is in superb condition. It is such a treasure! The brooch is 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) long and is 1 1/4 inches (3.3 cm) wide. The brooch is hallmarked 925S for sterling silver. The brooch weighs 7.7 grams.
