About the Item

A collectible sterling silver "Seicento" necklace by Lella Valle Vignelli for San Lorenzo, Italy, 2003. The necklace is stamped with Italian hallmarks, 925, Imv, Z San Lorenzo. Lella Valle Vignelli, one of Itay's most important modernist post-WWII designers (working with her husband Massimo), crafted the SEICENTO silver necklace, referring to a style of Italian art of the seventeenth century. The necklace’s design is a modern take on the Elizabethan-style collar, offering any ensemble a distinctive and sophisticated touch. This flattering creation seamlessly combines exceptional design with exquisite silversmithing craftsmanship. The necklace rests comfortably on the neck and will spark conversation at any gathering. Lella Valle Vignelli, known professionally as Lella Vignelli, was an Italian designer born in 1934 and passed away in 2016. She gained recognition for her work across multiple design disciplines, including graphic design, interior design, and product design. Together with her husband, Massimo Vignelli, she co-established Vignelli Associates, a distinguished design firm acclaimed for its minimalist and enduring design philosophy. Lella's contributions were instrumental in shaping the design industry, notably seen in projects such as the iconic New York City subway map and brand identities for major corporations like IBM and American Airlines. This timeless piece, part of the esteemed "12 Monili d’Argento San Lorenzo" collection, debuted in 2003 during the Milan Triennale.
