About the Item

An absolutely stunning French Bresse Bressan enameled necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this wonderful piece features incredibly vibrant enameled designs paired with French paste stones. Twenty seven round and oval-shaped links form the collar of the necklace, each adorned with decorative blue, red, black, green, and white enameling inlaid within swirling golden frames. The links are decorated with bright pink and green French paste stones which are bezel set in the center in sterling silver frames. Teardrop-shaped links, carrying complementary enameled and French paste details, attach to each oval link and small sterling hanging daggers complete the dramatic and colorful look. The multi-link necklace has wonderful movement when worn, its bright appeal beautifully contouring along the neckline. The necklace secures with a simple barrel clasp at the back. This piece would be an incredible addition to any enamel lover's collection! The necklace measures approximately 17.75" long. The longest link dangle measures 1 5/8" long. The necklace is in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. The enameling remains in excellent condition, free of noticeable chips and scratches, and all of the paste stones are intact and securely set. The push clasp is in secure working condition.

Replacements made: Three pink paste stones were missing when the piece was acquired. They were replaced in 2021 with matching Victorian-era paste stones. Wear consistent with age and use. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. The enameling remains in excellent condition, free of noticeable chips and scratches, and all of the paste stones are intact.
