Antique Renaissance Revival large 14K yellow gold and natural pearl ancient Roman Imperial coin- Ae Antoninianus- Aurelian Circa 275 AD pendant/brooch

Roman coin - silver- ancient-Circa 275 AD
Fine estate ancient Aurelian Roman coin pendant/brooch set in a beautifully detailed 14K yellow gold foliate scrolled setting with natural pearl floral elements. The front of the coin depicts Emperor Aurelian in profile wearing a distinctive radiated solar crown referencing the Sun God, Sol Invictus. Aurelian cleverly used the imagery of the Sun God to equate the God's power with that of the Roman Empire.
This piece may be worn both as a brooch and as a pendant.
A rare find- most ancient coin pendants are in modern settings- the fine quality, large scale and artistry of this piece is seldom seen and is outstanding.
