About the Item

An authentic silver "denarius" coin from the Roman Republic 81 BC, minted under the moneyer (family that was the minting authority ): Q Caecillius Metellus Imperator, commemorates the capture of the war elephants from the Carthaginian general Hasdrubal at the battle of Panormus in Sicily in 250 BC by the ancestors of of Q Metellus. Denarius coins were often designed as tribute and homage to members of the moneyers family. The opposite side of the coin depicts Pietas, who was the divine presence of virtue in everyday life that cautioned humans not to intrude on the realm of the gods. The small mark on the elephant was a test mark made in ancient times to verify the coins purity. This coin is set within a Steven Battelle designed artisanally crafted high-karat gold setting surrounded by a row of "jawan" granulation. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included but can be ordered additionally. It comes in a 18" and 20” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Historic!

Ancient Greek 3rd Century BC Seleucid Elephants Coin 22K Gold Diamonds Pendant
By Steven Battelle
Located in Soquel, CA
A rare and authentic silver "tetradrachm" coin from Seleukos I Nikator 312-281 BC depicts Athena driving a "quadriga" (a chariot) pulled by 4 horned elephants. Seleucus was a Macedonian Greek general who was one of the successors of Alexander the Great. In the power struggles that followed Alexander's death, he became ruler of Asia Minor, Syria, Mesopotamia, and the Iranian Plateau, eventually assuming the title of basileus (king). The state he established on these territories, the Seleucid Empire, was one of the major powers of the Hellenistic world, until being overcome by the Roman Republic and Parthian Empire in the late second and early first centuries BC. In 306 BC Seleucus attempted to invade India, and in the subsequent settlement with the Mauryan Emperor Chandragupta, he obtained 500 war elephants which were later used in campaigns in the west. Although no "quadrigas" were ever actually pulled by 4 elephants, Seleukos chose to use this image on his coinage. The opposite side of the coin features Zeus, king of the gods. This is an extremely rare coin not usually seen in jewelry. It is set in a signature handmade Steven Battelle 22K gold hammered...

Dubini Capitoline Wolf Ancient Bronze Coin 18K Gold Necklace
By DUBINI
Located in London, GB
This DUBINI coin necklace from the 'Empires' collection features an authentic Roman Imperial coin minted circa 330-335 A.D. set in 18K yellow gold. Coin Ø 19mm Chain length: 47 cm DEPICTED ON COIN: She-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus with stars above on the obverse and helmeted bust of Roma on reverse. HISTORY A commemorative coin featuring the iconic she-wolf, affectionately nurturing the infant twins Romulus and Remus. This striking depiction honours the legendary foundation of Rome, a timeless tale intertwined with the identity of Constantine the Great as he sought to solidify his stature as the supreme ruler of the Empire. According to the revered myth, Romulus and Remus, children of the god Mars and the vestal Rhea Silvia, a descendant of Aeneas, were abandoned in the wild and suckled by a she-wolf. As they grew, the twins founded Rome, but a dispute over which hill to build upon led to Remus's tragic death. The enduring "wolf and twins" motif has graced countless Roman coins since the Republic era, symbolising Rome's origins and resilience. Considered one of the first ever commemorative coins, this piece by Constantine the Great was likely a strategic celebration of Rome. By honouring the city's legendary founders, Constantine emphasised the Roman Empire's continuity and its profound cultural heritage, despite the political shift to the new capital in Constantinople. The reverse of this coin features the helmeted profile of Roma, the divine patron and personification of the city. Depicted as a warrior, she dons a helmet and armour...
