About the Item

A silver "6 Stuivers" also known as a "Scheepjesschelling" coin from the Dutch independent province of West Friesland depicting a naval 3 masted sailing ship is set in a Steven Battelle designed double twist wire classic 18K gold bezel setting. During this period the 7 provinces of the Netherlands under the VOC (Dutch East India Company) each minted versions of this coin which were used throughout much of the world where they traded, from New York in North America, to Jakarta, Taiwan, South Africa, and including Japan, China, and South East Asia for the spice trade and silks. The ship on the coin is surrounded by the legend "VIGILATE DEO CONFIDENTES" which translated to roughly: "Vigilantly Confiding in God". The opposite side of this coin is the coat of arms of West Friesland. This pendant comes with a laminated coin certificate of authenticity. The 18k handmade hammered chain shown is not included but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”,20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant.
