Ancient Greek 4th Century BC Eagle Coin 18K Gold Mens Ring

About the Item

A clear and crisply struck image of an eagle carrying a snake in its talons is depicted on an authentic ancient Greek silver "drachm" coin struck in the seaport city of Chalkis on the island of Euboia between 340-290 BC. Euboia is the 2nd largest island in Greece, north of Athens. The eagle is a powerful and majestic bird associated with Zeus, the king of the gods in the Greek pantheon. The combination of the eagle and snake on the Chalkis drachm signified a balance between power and wisdom, dominion and healing, the sea and the land. The opposite side of the coin depicts the wife of Zeus, the goddess Hera. This very rare coin is mounted within a Steven Battelle designed artisanally crafted setting encircled by a stepped double line texture 18K gold bezel atop a wide hammered 18K gold shank, all in matte-finish. It is currently sized 10, resizable if necessary by your local jeweler. The finest image on this type of coin I have found! Unique!
