Modernist earrings designed by Gilbert Albert (1930-2919) for Gubelin. Fabulous pair of earrings, from the modernism period circa 1960. This sculptural pieces was made in Zurich Switzerland by the genius goldsmith Gilbert Albert for the house of Gubelin. They was crafted with organic maritime patterns in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with textured patterns. The design and the patterns were inspired by the reefs and the coral formations of the bottom of the sea. Fitted with posts (Removable) and French omega backs for fastening clips. Abalone: Mount with a pair of free forms elements, carved from abalone shells from the seas close to the Philippines Islands. Pearls: Mount with a pair of cultured round white pearls of 5 mm. Weight: 17.45 grams (11.18 Dwt). Measurements: 26 mm by 21 mm (1.02 x 0.83 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped, with the maker's mark, the swiss gold assay marks and signed, "GUBELIN .750". Gilbert Albert, born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1930, is a jewelry designer and one of the most influential jeweler artist of the 20th and 21th century with more than 10 world award winning prizes. He made important sculptural jewelry works for the Patek Philippe company and he worked there as part of the designer team. He was head of the workshop from the 1955 to 1962, during which time he designed his signature asymmetrical watches for the company. Mr. Albert took his inspiration from his passion for modern art, notably works by Brancusi and Mondrian. This sculptural bracelet is a one-of-a-kind unique piece, carefully crafted with organics motifs in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with beautiful textured patterns. Fitted with a security box lock and a hinged slash for extra safety. Diamonds: Mount in four-prongs settings, with 8 round brilliant cut diamonds, 1.03 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 clarity. Pearls: Mount, with and arrangement of 5 round pearls of different tonalities, graduated between 5mm and 6mm. Others: Is accompanied by one supplementary sphere of 12mm, carved from natural pink quartz. These spheres can be interchanged with the main Tahitian black pearls. Weight: 57.95 Grams, (37.15 Dwt). Cocktail ring designed by Augustin Julia Plana (1934-1979) for Simon Schlegel. This is a very rare and unusual cocktail ring, created in the city of Bern Switzerland by the artist jeweler Augustin Julia-Plana, for Simon Schlegel, back in the late 1960. The ring has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with highly textured finish. The design was made up as a free arrangement of eight oval elements, which are mounted with natural Afghani blue lapis lazuli. This cocktail ring show the typical early artistic composition from this designer. Augustin Julia-Plana Augustin Julia-Plana was born in Mataro, near Barcelona, in 1934. In his youth, he was a talented track and field athlete, and in 1954 was the Spanish 4 x 400m relay champion. After military service, he attended art school and then decided to go abroad to pursue his career. In 1963 he joined the Swiss jewelers Simon Schlegel, in Bern, before formally partnering with Schlegel in 1968 as Schlegel & Plana.
