About the Item

FACTORY / HOUSE: Dueber Hampden STYLE / REFERENCE: Molly Stark / Tonneau Art Deco METAL / MATERIAL: White Gold Filled CIRCA / YEAR: 1920 / 21 DIMENSIONS / SIZE: Length 29mm X Width 39mm MOVEMENT / CALIBER: Manual Winding / 7 Jewels / Caliber 3 / 0 Size DIAL / HANDS: Factory Original Silvered Dial with Arabic Numeral Markers / Blued Steel Hands ATTACHMENT / LENGTH: Leather, 14mm / Regular Length WARRANTY: 18 months on the movement This is a "vault find" watch, it has been locked up for nearly 50 years, which means it needs a service. It has been in our own collection for nearly that long. We will give it a factory quality service by our finest watchmaker as part of the purchase price before it is shipped out to you. This will delay shipping for a few days of course. LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This is a great looking and all original watch which we seldom see. The watch still has its original strap, buckle and compression strap pins. The dial and hands are original as well. It seldom happens that we get a vintage watch in this fine and original condition. We have shown it with a modern Lizard strap but also the original one. The original strap is too dried out to use however, it will break apart within a few days. You will never see a finer example of this model. In 1930, the Dueber-Hampden Watch Company sold its factory and assets to the Soviet Union. The sale was part of a larger effort by the Soviet Union to acquire American industrial technology. The Dueber-Hampden Watch Company was one of the leading watch manufacturers in the United States, and its technology was considered to be among the most advanced in the world. The sale of the factory and assets to the Soviet Union gave the Soviet Union access to this technology, which it could use to improve its own watchmaking industry. The sale of the Dueber-Hampden Watch Company to the Soviet Union was controversial at the time. Some people argued that it was a mistake to sell such a valuable asset to a foreign country. Others argued that the sale was necessary to help the Soviet Union improve its own watchmaking industry. The sale of the factory and assets to the Soviet Union had a significant impact on the Dueber-Hampden Watch Company. The company eventually went out of business, and its employees were laid off. The sale of the factory and assets to the Soviet Union also had a significant impact on the American watchmaking industry. The Soviet Union's acquisition of American technology helped it to improve its own watchmaking industry, and this competition from the Soviet Union made it more difficult for American watchmakers to compete.
