Boy Bee
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
At the core of "Boy Bee," we encounter the symbol of the blue face cap. The blue color carries diverse connotations, representing tranquility, freedom, and a sense of calm. In this artwork, the blue face cap becomes a powerful symbol of the wearer's individuality and self-expression. It suggests that the young man is using his choice of headwear as a means of asserting his uniqueness and setting himself apart from societal norms or expectations. The face cap becomes a metaphorical shield, allowing the young man to navigate the world on his own terms, symbolizing his desire to create his own identity and carve his own path. By prominently featuring the blue face cap, John invites viewers to reflect on the significance of personal style as a form of self-expression and as a means of celebrating our distinctiveness. "Boy Bee" encourages contemplation of the intricate nature of identity and the journey of self-discovery. The young man in the artwork exudes a sense of confidence and self-assuredness, suggesting that he has embraced his unique qualities and is comfortable expressing them. His choice of the blue face cap hints at his exploration of various aspects of self and his willingness to experiment with different forms of personal style. John's portrayal of the young man invites viewers to consider their own journeys of self-discovery and the power of embracing individuality. The artwork encourages us to question societal expectations and norms, urging us to uncover and celebrate the diverse layers that make us who we are. "Boy Bee" serves as a reminder that true fulfillment and happiness come from authentically expressing ourselves, even if it means deviating from the conventional path. In "Boy Bee," Makama John...

Leader and Followers
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Leader and Followers" is a visually striking piece of art that immediately captures the viewer's attention. The artwork, which was created using a combination of oil colors, features a central figure standing tall and confident, representing the "Leader." Surrounding this central figure are several smaller figures, representing the "Followers." Azeez's "Leader and Followers" is a profound allegory that explores the complex dynamics between leaders and their followers in society. The central figure, portrayed as powerful and charismatic, serves as a representation of leadership. This character appears larger than life, evoking a sense of authority and control. The surrounding smaller figures represent the followers, who, in contrast, appear diminutive and fragmented. Their faces are obscured, and their bodies are twisted and contorted, symbolizing the idea that followers may often lose their individuality and autonomy in their pursuit of leadership. Azeez seems to suggest that leaders can exert a significant influence over their followers, shaping their thoughts, behaviors, and even identities. "Leader and Followers" challenges viewers to reconsider their assumptions about leadership and followership. It raises questions about the responsibilities of leaders, the agency of followers, and the potential for both positive and negative outcomes when these roles intersect. Azeez's work invites us to reflect on the role of leadership in shaping society. It prompts us to ask whether leaders should be held accountable for the actions and choices of their followers. It also encourages us to consider the ethical implications of the power that leaders wield over their followers. Abiodun Nafiu...

Nakedness of Truth
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Nakedness of Truth is an original painting by Abifola Olorunlana. Olorunlana created Nakedness of Truth with Acrylic on a 36W by 48H inches primed canvas. Nakedness of Truth was made over a painting Abifola Olorunlana did and didn't like (an underlying painting depicting four figures fetching water from a river and gossiping about someone they didn't like). The Nakedness of Truth is a painting that advocates for people who belong to the LGBTQ community and salutes their unity in making the movement impactful globally. For years many have stayed reclusive about their true identity due to religious beliefs, societal constructs, and government laws which have left many depressed till their last days, many were even killed for courageously coming out to state their true identity. This is depicted in the painting: dark yellow eyes sticking out of the woods to portray a sense of public rejection, yet my subject boldly stands out of the green woods and leaves to express courage, strength, and power. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Shadows and Diamonds
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
At the heart of "Shadows and Diamonds," we encounter the theme of shadows. John ingeniously uses shadows to represent the obscured aspects of our individuality, the parts of ourselves that are hidden from the outside world. These shadows can be seen as the unexplored depths of our personality, our fears, or our secrets. The young man in the artwork seems to embrace his shadows, suggesting a willingness to acknowledge and confront those hidden aspects of his being. By portraying shadows as an integral part of the artwork, John challenges us to embrace our own shadows and accept them as essential components of our identity. The shadows in "Shadows and Diamonds" serve as reminders that the multifaceted nature of human existence is not limited to what is visible on the surface but extends far beyond, into the realm of the intangible and the mysterious. While shadows represent the hidden aspects of self, diamonds in the artwork symbolize the facets that shine through, the qualities and characteristics that we choose to reveal to the world. Diamonds are known for their brilliance and sparkle, and in "Shadows and Diamonds," they represent the positive attributes that we proudly display to others. They symbolize our achievements, our talents, and the qualities that make us unique and valuable. Through the juxtaposition of shadows and diamonds, John invites us to reflect on the delicate balance between revealing and concealing different aspects of our identity. The young man's beaded necklace, adorned with diamonds, suggests a celebration of self-discovery and the courage to embrace and showcase the diverse elements that constitute our true selves. In addition to the symbolism present within the artwork, Makama John...

Golden Triangle 1
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"The golden triangle" is the second pair from the series of Abfillage works referred to as "Renegades of a breaking nation". The eliminated afro hair, the symbol, and the expressions form the basis of the narrative of this art. The expression of serenity, tranquility, calmness, pride, unconscious of the external environment, and a state of deep thought defines the emotional status of the subject. The symbol of this pair is a triangular sign made with a golden color on the neck. It is made of three strokes, unlike the first pair made of 2 strokes, thereby showing a transition. It is basic and a symbol of balance like the other four paintings. The term "golden triangle" is a term used in mathematics for a triangle with an interior angle ratio of 1:2:2. But rather than constructing a mathematical golden triangle, the triangle was painted with golden pigment. The triangle is a symbol of geometric sturdiness and strength, a symbol of harmony, and unity of 3 parts. When we are focused on our truth, we are connected to life and have the experience of life coming to us. "Renegades of a breaking nation" is a series of 5 Abfillage artworks, created in 3 sections creating a form of transition using 3 symbols. A transition from a state of one nation to another. By creating a combination of expressive portraits and symbols in gold acrylic pigments which all signify balance. A transition to steadiness, equilibrium, and stability of a country. Omowumi
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The title "Omowumi" itself exudes a sense of elegance and mystery, drawing us into the realm of enchantment where the magical moments of life reside. The woman depicted in the painting stands as the embodiment of grace and serenity, radiating an aura of tranquility that mirrors the beauty of the flowers she holds. Her choice of attire, a flowing white armless gown, symbolizes purity and serves as a canvas for the vibrant colors of the bouquet to come alive. The bouquet of flowers cradled in the woman's hands serves as the focal point of the artwork, and rightly so. Flowers, with their ephemeral beauty and fragrance, have long been a symbol of life's fleeting nature and the beauty that resides in transience. They remind us that life is a delicate dance, and every moment should be treasured and savored. "Omowumi" captures the essence of reminiscing about beautiful times spent with flowers in hand...
