Healer Also Needs Healing II
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Healer Also Needs Healing" is an evocative portrait that invites viewers to explore the inner world of the subject. The woman depicted exudes a sense of strength and serenity, her eyes gazing into the distance with a mix of determination and vulnerability. Ganiyat masterfully captures the delicate balance between the external projection of strength and the internal longing for healing. The woman's visage is rendered in exquisite detail, with every brushstroke contributing to the depth of her character. Her features reflect a life well-lived, marked by experiences both joyful and painful. The artist employs a subtle yet profound use of color, emphasizing warm and earthy tones that evoke a sense of grounding and connection to nature. The intricate interplay of light and shadow further adds dimension and intensity to the subject's expression. Abdulazeez's artwork conveys a powerful message about the often-overlooked struggles faced by those in nurturing roles. By focusing on a healer, traditionally associated with strength and selflessness, the artist challenges the notion that caregivers are immune to their own wounds. The title itself, "Healer Also Needs Healing," emphasizes this essential truth and serves as a reminder to viewers to extend compassion to those who are constantly providing it to others. The woman's serene yet contemplative expression embodies the dichotomy between the need to heal and the strength required to carry the burden of others' pain. Her distant gaze hints at an internal world, perhaps filled with personal battles, memories, or unvoiced emotions. It invites viewers to reflect on the toll that caregiving roles can take on individuals, urging them to recognize the importance of self-care and nurturing their own well-being. Moreover, the subtle details within the artwork contribute to its symbolic depth. The presence of natural elements, such as flowers or leaves entwined in the woman's hair or adorning her attire, suggests a connection to the healing power of nature and the cycle of growth and renewal. These elements symbolize the potential for personal transformation and rejuvenation, highlighting the importance of self-nurture for healers and caregivers alike. Ganiyat Abdulazeez...

Figurehead
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
In the days when every seaport had its figurehead to show, this same day calls for free, I must go save these countrymen, my honorable crew if they still breathe. I must sail deep down north again, with strong men and skillful hands. All I ask this day is dread naught and a star to steer her as the people blare for salvaging; And all I ask again is a windy day and a friendly storm at night, And a sweet dream with my shipment when the long cruise is over. Sometimes as individuals, our expectations are not met or sometimes disorganized when we find ourselves in a confusing situation that has to do with going on a date. We are always anxious about going on a date we are already thrilled about and can't wait to explore that beautiful moment but unexpectedly our expectation was declined due to certain turn-off symbols or what we do dislike experiencing, but that shouldn't end up trying to overcome the unexpected to achieve the expected and aim of dating and love life. Jewel and Chain I
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Hello, chained beauty! Let’s revisit the echoes of our past. And dent ourselves in the history untold. Golden chains, silver strands, and a black hat, History of our captivity worn with pride. Adorning ourselves in shackles of chains O blessed trinket of slaves! Our new, gracefully obsessed gaze The arrow dug deep into the flesh. While the scream of pain echoes through the air. Our tune of pain is sweet music to their ears. Once a tool of oppression, an object of shame to our ancestors’ grief, Now full regalia of finery, a fashion that masks our misery, In our freedom, we recreate our beauty, once painted in black dirt with a touch of blood stain. Now adorned in pure gold with a touch of pearls. The hat twirls with elegance and class. Yet, echoes our oppression in clear glass. No doubt! Our makeup is like war paint...

While I Wait
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
While I Wait is an original painting by Joseph Christian Ekom-Obong. Joseph created While I Wait with Oil on a 36W by 48H inches primed canvas. The artwork titled "While I Wait" depicts a black young lady who is expectant of love and all the good things that come with it. The artwork is a beautiful representation of hope, patience, and the human desire for companionship and love. The artwork features a young woman standing in the center of the canvas, with her eyes opened and her arms slightly extended as if she is waiting to be embraced by someone. She is dressed in a simple yet elegant dress, which symbolizes her purity and innocence. Her hair is styled in a natural Afro, which adds to the authenticity and realism of the artwork. The artist has used a warm color palette in the background, which creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The use of warm colors such as orange and yellow also symbolizes love, passion, and warmth, which are all the emotions that the young lady is waiting to experience. One of the most striking features of the artwork is the expression on the young lady's face. She has a serene and peaceful expression, which indicates that she is content and at peace with herself. However, there is also a hint of anticipation and longing in her eyes, which reveals that she is waiting for someone special to come into her life. The title of the artwork, "While I Wait," adds to the emotional depth of the piece. It suggests that the young lady has been waiting for a long time and that she is willing to wait patiently for as long as it takes to find the love and happiness that she desires. The artwork is a beautiful representation of the human experience of longing and waiting for love. It is a universal theme that is relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds. Joseph Christian Ekom-Obong has captured this theme with great skill and sensitivity, creating an artwork that is both visually stunning and emotionally moving. In conclusion, the artwork titled "While I Wait" is a beautiful and poignant representation of the human experience of waiting for love. The young lady in the artwork is a symbol of hope, patience, and the unending desire for companionship and love. The artwork is a powerful reminder that no matter how long we have to wait, love is always worth waiting for. Emotan (Becoming Series)
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Emotan is an original painting by Barnabas Macauley. Emotan was created with Mixed Media (Charcoal, Acrylic, and Pencil on a primed 24W by 30H inches canvas. Emotan (real name Uwarraye) was a 15th-century market woman who plied her trade at the Oba Market in the ancient kingdom of Benin during the reign of Oba Uwaifiokun and Oba Ewuare the Great. She was known for her humanitarian work, love for children, and most importantly the key role she played during the period of Prince Ogun’s (Oba Ewuare I) succession travails following his time in exile. Although Emotan had no biological children of her own, Emotan loved and took care of many children in her foster home. Some parents would send their children to live with Emotan and learn some trades from her for a period of time. She also kept and trained orphans, many of which indeed became industrious and useful members of society. (Osaze Amadasun) In this Becoming series, I hope to revive our heritage as well as examine the intricacies of self-actualization, vis-a-vis drawing inspiration from the African history from the Benin and Esan perspective, contemporarily. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Macaulay Barnabas Osagie is a self-taught Artist and a graduate of the prestigious University of Benin, Nigeria, West Africa. Hailed from Benin heritage, which is known for its rich history, culture, and traditions. Growing up, He was fascinated by esthetics as a form of expression; this propelled his journey into the world of art. His passion for art began at the age of five, scribbling images on the ground using sticks—it evolved into drawings in primary and secondary schools. He was often selected among students to represent my secondary school in various art competitions. "Knowing that Art fuels my existence and helps me connect with the world better, in 2018, I decided to not only do art for love and relief, but to explore it professionally, and build a renowned career in the industry. One that reflects my views on societal issues and serves as an echo of hope. Determined to pay my dues, I had the privilege of working at Prince Saheed Adelakun's Olokun Art Studio in Abule-Egba, Lagos. It was there I met with other professionals. I created my first series titled "Odan Series"; which was expressed via hyperrealism. I created this series at the point when my life was in shambles; I was going through a rough phase; working on this series was my solace at the time. "Over the years, I have created brilliant artworks using charcoal and pencil on paper and have evolved using acrylic and charcoal on canvas as my primary media of visual articulation; these works take various forms and for various purposes, all a reflection of my creativity and depth. I am drawn to figurative African contemporary art and surrealism...
