Meander I2 Side Table / Low Cabinet by Bram Kerkhofs
Located in Geneve, CH
Meander I2 side table / low cabinet by Bram Kerkhofs. Dimensions: D 51 x H 73cm. Materials: Stainless steel, aluminum, elastic rope (natural rubber, polyester). Other dimensions are available. Meander is the latest fruit of an ongoing research that started from the system ‘Coil’ in which round elastic rope is connected to a stable material, resulting in screens from parallel stretched strings. Using flat elastic band with different widths and playing with interspacing, meander allows to create semi-transparent screens with a lot of variations. Out of its system Meander can be implemented exterior, as architectural screens packing buildings or dividing space, or interior, as room dividing screens. But above all it allows to create sensual objects that play with shape, transparency, motion and optical confusion. The possibilities are endless! Bram Kerkhofs (° 1977) is a Belgian furniture designer looking for new forms and methods to challenge the functionality and flexibility of a furniture piece. Educated as a goldsmith he is fascinated by connections, hinges, knots and joints, and especially by the functional opportunities they generate. His work is filled with mathematical principles resulting in intelligible algorithms to make them understandable. He draws particular attention to the relationship between construction and material, bringing simplicity into complexity, with a lasting alertness to the final function. This time-intensive design and development process results in innovative construction systems automatically expressing his signature. Many of his designs must be seen in a bigger picture, as parts to a whole, in which he explores the endless possibilities for links, combinations and variations. Bram wants to clarify complex constructions and gives the consumer and the spectator insight into his thinking process. That is why his work partly revolves around people, as the manipulators...

Rebar Steel Cabinet by Jordan Artisan Collectible Design Credenza Round Display
By Jordan Artisan
Located in Nijmegen, NL
“Let’s turn sharp into round, dark into light, metal into something more fluid.” J. Artisan This modern, industrial Rebar cabinet is made by JORDAN ARTISAN (Nijmegen, 1979). The pedestals inside can be (re)moved to fit owns style. Jordan mainly works with construction materials; wood, EPS, and rebar. After experimenting with the materials, he has found an innovative way of using rebar. It is mostly known as a side product in construction, to strengthen concrete. It is also possible to turn it into something elegant; organic, soft, and round. Therefor he is cutting and sanding all this little pieces of rebar. The next step is welding them together: shaping, creating roundness, something fluid. When it is all connected, that is the best part. Sustainability: Rebar is made of recycled steal, so the work can in time become part of the cycle again. ABOUT THE JORDAN ARTISAN SERIES The Rebar Steel...

Coil #5 Cabinet by Bram Kerkhofs
Located in Geneve, CH
Coil #5 cabinet by Bram Kerkhofs Dimensions: D80 x W40 x H225.6cm Materials: stainless steel, aluminium, elastic rope (natural rubber, polyethylene). Other dimensions are available. Coil is a modular cabinet system in which the ‘shell’ is formed completely around a base as a semi-transparent curtain from a vertical and parallel woven elastic rope. It forms the middle between a classic open rack and a display cabinet and can be used on all sides. Coil redefines the cabinet as an object in its use. To put something in or to get it out, the elastics have to be pushed aside. Coil is a good example to clarify my dealings with materials and their properties. To be able to attach the elastic rope, the rope must be stretched so that the rope becomes thinner. The top and bottom shelf of the cabinet are provided with a specific cut-out curve at the edge so that the stretched elastic can be inserted, after which it relaxes nicely in the recessed opening. Due to its modular construction, the coil can vary in height by 40 cm each. The inner shelves are slightly smaller. This keeps them away from the screen. Coil has a fixed rounded rectangular format of 40 x 80 cm (W x H) and can be combined with quarter circle modules with a radius of 40 and 80 cm. This makes it possible to build freestanding walls as a composition of curved and straight forms, as functional room dividers. Black Chaos Cabinet with Furry Goatskin offcuts & Cast Aluminium by Atelier V&F
Located in 1204, CH
Before "The Crack in Chaos", Atelier V&F conceived an imagination of primordial rawness in "Revelation of Gaia". Based on this collection as the prelude, Atelier V&F is working to expand it into a majestic play, with the first act tracing back to the time before the birth of Gaia, to the start of everything, to the abyss cloaked with mysterious fog. With Darkness, Disorder, Primordial Rawness and Birth as the keywords, the first act of this grand play is born. The Crack in Chaos is the moment when the shaft of light bursts out of the split of darkness that is the birth of universe and with it, space and concepts. "Chaos Cabinet", rose and took shape from the flowing sliver metal, it creates a visual impact of anti-gravity, as if it marks the birth of something supernatural. The order of the linear cabinet...
