Known for their contemporary elegance and comfort, Steve Chase’s residential interiors embodied the casual yet opulent style of California’s affluent. Natural elements such as wood, granite and leather prevailed in his sensuous designs, often enhanced by subtle lighting. Preferring to work closely with each project’s architect, Chase deftly blended all the elements of design to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
Realizing his talents earlier than most, Chase began shaping his career and his distinctive style at age seventeen when he joined the design firm of La Tienda in Los Angeles. A 14-year affiliation with Arthur Elrod Associates followed, ending in 1980 with the founding of his namesake firm, Steve Chase Associates. With a staff of more than 20 based in Rancho Mirage, California, Chase’s projects extended beyond his signature residential work to include aircraft, yachts and homes in such far-off lands as Singapore and Germany. Franz F.D.A. Gailliard (1861-1932) was a Belgian Neo-Impressionnist and Luminist painter of figures, portraits, landscapes and beach scenes. He was also a reporter, watercolourist and draughtsman for French, English and Belgian lifestyle magazines and newspapers such as the French Le Patriote illustre´, Belgian Le Petit Bleu and English London Illustrated News. He received his artistic education at the Academy of Brussels under the tutorship of Jean Portaels, Joseph Stallaert and Franc¸ois Bossuet. Gailliard also studied at the Brussels Academy of Beaux-Arts and in Paris under the supervision of Jean-Le´on Ge´ro^me (French, 1824–1904) and followed class together with his contemporaries James Ensor, Le´on Fre´de´ric and Fernand Khnopff. He met up with the renowned American painter James Whistler in 1887 and showed him around Brussels. He was the first artist to introduce the "dripping" method in 1891. After having painting in a realist and traditional style, he got influenced by the Impressionist French School, and headed toward a "luministe-divisionniste" technique in his latest period. He exhibited at the Brussels Salon, and at the Salon des Artistes Franc¸ais in Paris from 1882 to 1891, as well as in Venice and Du¨sseldorf. Gailliard exhibited his oeuvre at the "Cercle Artistique et Litte´raire" in Brussels in 1910 and 1913. He became eventually director at the Academy of Sint-Gillis where his son Jean-Jacques Gailliard took class in order to also become painter. A retrospective was held in is honour is 1957 in Sint-Gillis. Even though he was influenced by the Art Deco aesthetics after the First War, he never stopped studying and experimenting with light.
Gailliard exhibited at The Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte della Citta` di Venezia (Venice) in 1909 and at La Biennale di Venezia, (Venice) in 1907. He also exhibited at Le Muse´e d'Ixelles, Brussels. Gailliard died in Brussels on February 16, 1932.

François-Alfred Delobbe, (1835, Paris-1920, Paris) was a French painter in the Naturalist style.
He was a student of Thomas Couture and William Bouguereau at the École des Beaux-arts, where he had been admitted at the age of 16, and had his debut at the Salon in 1861 with a portrait of his mother. Mythological, Orientalist and genre scenes in the Academic style were his original specialities. His career was truly launched when he obtained a commission to decorate the Town Hall of the recently annexed 15th Arrondissement; one of only eight such commissions granted.
From 1875 until his death, he and his family were regular visitors at the artists' colony in Concarneau, where he had been invited to come by its founder Alfred Guillou and in whose home they sometimes stayed. The soft light of the region inspired him to focus on painting children and young women, generally in peasant scenes. He would often sketch profusely during the summer, then finish the painting during the winter at his Paris Studio. Most of his models came from the Concarneau region.
