The Museo del Prado in Madrid, known as Prado for short (Spanish for "meadow"), is one of the largest and most important art museums in the world. Originally founded as a Pinacoteca and glyptotheca, the Prado today includes over 5000 drawings, 2000 prints, 1000 coins and medals, and nearly 2000 other art objects. Khumbu Glacier is a glacier in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is the highest glacier in the world with an altitude of 8,000 meters. It is fed by the slopes of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse and begins in the "Valley of Silence," the highest cirque on earth with up to 6,000 meters altitude. At the end of the Valley of Silence, the Khumbu Glacier has a steep breakaway, the Khumbu Icefall, about 600 meters high. At the end of this icefall, the glacier turns from its initial northwesterly course to a southwesterly direction. Here is also the base camp for the ascent of Mount Everest via the southern route (5,400 m).

The Monastery of the Premonstratensian Order at Strahov in Prague has a history reaching back to the 12th century and is a listed National Cultural Monument of the Czech Republic. The monastery was founded during the reign of King Vladislav II on the impetus of the Bishop of Olomouc Jindřich Zdík. The monastery acquired its current Baroque appearance in the years between 1671 and 1674, when an extensive rebuilding was carried out according to design by the architect Giovanni Domenico Orsi. Additional alterations were carried out in 1742 by the architect-builder Anselmo Lurago. The beginnings of today’s library of the Strahov monastery can be placed in the era of Giovanni Domenico Orsi’s rebuilding work. Visitors to the Philosophical Hall are immediately drawn to the painting on its ceiling titled, “The Spiritual Progress of Mankind” by the artist Franz Anton Maulbertsch, who was assisted by his pupil Martin Michl. The artist worked on the painting from April till October 1794. The book collection of the Philosophical Hall library contains works on history, theology, poetry and liturgical texts.

"As we search the length and breadth of America for shooting locations, we are drawn to roads that lead the eye but are then halted by something monumental. This formula offers a closed end theatre from which to tell stories. The best urban example of this is perhaps La Salle Street in Chicago, which concludes with the Chicago Board of Trade. "Over the last few weeks we have quietly been photographing senior American Indians against the backdrop of quintessential and emblematic American vistas.
Whilst we will be releasing some of the series in the run up to the Presidential Election, this is not an overtly political statement from us. We know that American Indians have long had a leaning toward the Democratic Party, but we took this assignment on because it is relevant, not to be political.
There is wide recognition now that Christopher Columbus did not discover America in 1492 and the events in Minneapolis have accelerated the debate on the possibility of institutionalised racism in the teaching of American history. This is not a discussion with which we want to fully engage, as we are ill equipped to add value, but I do want to celebrate some of the tribal elders I have had the fortune to encounter in the last month. Their pride, manners, grace and humility have been humbling. We have made new friends in the North.
The senior Elder of the fabled Lakota tribe is John Spotted Tail. We spent two days with him in Northern Wyoming and he was so excited to wear the headpiece that only the most senior Indian chiefs like him can wear. His attire was emphatically his decision not ours. Their heritage is integral to their souls.

"If someone else had taken this immersive photograph and asked me which country it had been captured in, Rwanda would be my immediate response. There are mountain gorillas in Uganda and DRC and head on encounters can happen anywhere, but it would take a great deal of persuasion and empirical evidence for me not to regard Rwanda as the odds on favourite location. The number of accessible silverbacks is just so much higher and in my experience the vegetation offers more opportunities for encounters in clearer areas. Cigar shots like this are improbable but not impossible. That is why we keep returning. Most treks are failures for us as we set the bar high, but once in a while it all comes together.

"Dian Fossey - the Californian zoologist who became the world’s leading authority on the mountain gorilla - left a formidable legacy when she was tragically murdered in 1985. Her resting place, high up in the rain forest, is visited regularly by those that want to pay homage to her life. Fossey’s famous book ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ chronicled her research and conservation work that helped to reduce the downward population trend in mountain gorillas, ultimately saving them from extinction.
Her grave is a two and a half hour walk straight uphill from the little mountain village of Bisate on the edge of the National Park and over the years a well-trodden path has taken shape in what is otherwise a dense and fairly impenetrable rainforest.
In all my times trekking through the forest in search of gorillas, I have never had the fortune to be able to use this path to access the gorillas - as quite simply it was too far from the location of any particular troop to be of use. But on this occasion during Covid 19 we were working tightly with the rangers - who advised us that the Umubano Group were near the Fossey trail.

"This is an unusual shot for me, but it “hits the spot” and, overtime, I have grown fonder and fonder of it. It’s actually a punchy photograph. It’s not typical of my work because I tend to avoid the harshness of a midday sun and secondly, I was working from inside my vehicle which, in Amboseli, is rare. I tend to be out and about. The key factor in the image, however, was more prescriptive and truer to form. I was exceedingly close and this enabled me to use a portrait rather than a telephoto lens. To be given that choice, is the biggest luxury for a photographer.
This a huge and magnificent elephant who had enjoyed a morning mud bath. The mud dries quickly as the day heats up and the only evidence of his indulgence lay just under his right eye. From that point on, we always called him the pirate...
