Antique Industrial Shop Table Begging to Become a Kitchen Island Original Paint
Located in Chicago, IL
Whoever built this Industrial Work Table, almost begging to become a Kitchen Island, must have known that today’s Kitchen Islands would be 36” high, for that is almost exactly (36.88") what this 100-year-old Industrial Table measures. On top of getting the height spot-on, they had to have known how popular the Gustavian Grey or French Putty Grey would become 100-years later. This is an unrestored Industrial Work Table and because it measures exactly 36.88" high, we're going to guess it is from America. The hand-cut dove tails used to construct the drawers gives it an early 1900’s or possibly a late 1800’s build date. Our inhouse Old Plank workshop thoroughly cleaned the industrial Kitchen Island...

Chinese Painted Black Lacquer Scholars' Cabinet, c. 1800
Located in Chicago, IL
Constructed with four doors, this spectacular Qing-dynasty cabinet from the mid-19th century is lavishly painted with scenes of courtly life in a grand palace garden. Seamlessly constructed and darkly lacquered, the tall cabinet provides the perfect blank canvas for an artist’s painted embellishments. The upper doors depict a gathering of scholar-officials and fine ladies in a traditional courtyard pavilion. The lower doors are painted with mythical wise men navigating the wilderness with their young attendants. Surrounding the lower doors are several boys leaping about and playing together, a version of the Hundred Boys...

La Tolita-Tumaco Standing Female Figure
Located in Chicago, IL
This standing effigy was crafted in 500 A.D. - 1000 A.D. Mesoamerica using the gray clay paste that characterizes La Tolita-Tumaco ceramics of early Colombia-Ecuador. The art of La Tolita-Tumaco civilization is considered one of the most developed of the pre-Columbian period as metalwork and ceramics were the most popular form of cultural expression. The ceramic creations of this culture were often based on the human figure to create portraits of people and realistic daily scenes of life cycles and the human condition. This figure appears to be wearing a loincloth and is adorned with a beaded necklace and an elaborate coiffure or headdress. There are holes lining each ear indicating the potential use of ear spools...
