Three Kings
Located in Greenwich, CT
In this minimalistic painting, three majestic palm trees emerge from behind rugged rocks against an azure sky. The viewer’s perspective from the ground looking up, creates a sense of mystery about what lies beyond the palm trees. With no beach, people, or ocean in sight, the painting hints at hidden treasures just beyond the horizon. Thomas Easley...

Pink Flowers Blooming from Worth Avenue
By Jan Pawlowski
Located in Greenwich, CT
Polish, b. 1949 Pawlowski was born in 1949 in Poland. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1979 he was awarded his "authorization and certification" by the Ministry of Arts and Culture in Warsaw. This recognition is the ultimate achievement for Polish artists. Immediately after reaching this stature, Jan was in demand for numerous individual and collective exhibitions. From 1981 through part of 1988, he worked throughout Europe. During this time period he was invited to exhibit in Switzerland and in England where he had a one-man show. His travels brought him to the United States for a short vacation that has turned into his newfound home. His work was particularly well received in Michigan where he had three one-man shows, two of which were in Grosse Pointe and Harbor Springs...

On the Way 1
By Karen Woods
Located in Fairfield, CT
Represented by George Billis Gallery. Karen Woods paints a traveler’s view through the window of a moving vehicle rendered in subtly nuanced gestures in oil on canvas or panel. These views from the front seat of a car looking through an often rain-splattered windshield or side window, are always about water: water from above, as a rainstorm, or from below, as a man-made sprinkler system. She is drawn to the interplay of water and light, and how it affects our perception of reality through reflection, distortion, and transformation. The compositions often include a bit of the car - the edge of a window, a side mirror, the clear curved area left by a windshield wiper - these markers situate the viewer on the journey Woods is on - we are taken inside the vehicle and shown the vignettes that catch Woods’ eye. The paintings reclaim that point in time, explore its detail, and unearth its emotional content. Woods’ work freezes and compresses a moment of everyday life; then elongates and decelerates it and in so doing, reveals its accompanying emotional weight: its anticipation, reflection, isolation, and longing. Woods is coaxing us to recognize the transcendent experiences offered by the most mundane or ordinary surroundings of our daily lives. Karen Woods was born in Seattle, WA, in 1963. She received her BFA from the California College of the Arts (Oakland, CA) in 1987 with additional studies at California Polytechnic State University and Studio Art Centers International, Florence, Italy. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States with solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, and Boston, among others, and her work has been published in New American Paintings, American Art Collector, art ltd, Artweek, Western Art & Architecture, Fine Art Connoisseur, and the Idaho Statesmen. Woods’ paintings are included the public collections of the Bodleian Library, Oxford, UK, James Castle...

Reflection
Located in Greenwich, CT
b. 1960 Elizabeth Higgins describes herself as an abstract figurative and landscape painter. Everything around her serves as a potential subject, an inspiration to begin a painting. Fidelity to the landscape, the figure, or the still life is relative, as she isn’t interested in literal depictions; instead, it’s the abstract relationships of these shapes and colors, the abstract pictorial design. Her work is rooted in the tradition stemming from Courbet, Derain, Bonnard, Matisse, Morandi, German Expressionism, the Canadian Group of Seven, to her artist-teachers Paul Resika, Robert de Niro Sr., and finally, the contemporary artist, Peter Doig. Her artistic evolution stretches across this continuum. It is the “in-between”, the hovering between representation and abstraction, that interests her, not the labeling effect of details; instead, she aims directly at the spirit of the painting – of making something come to life. John Goodrich wrote in her catalog essay, “Elizabeth Higgins’ direct brushwork and simplified forms suggest an energy, but crucially, reveal a painter who knows the power of color…” Elizabeth Higgins was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1960. As a Helena Rubenstein Award recipient, Higgins earned her MFA from Parsons School of Design, where she studied with Leland Bell, Paul Resika, Albert Kresch and Robert deNiro...

"Mint Julep" Contemporary Barn Painting
By Carol Young
Located in Westport, CT
This contemporary landscape statement painting by Carol Young captures a rural scene with a barn-like structure in an open field. The bright, warm yellow and orange tones of the barn and ground are contrasted by the cool blue sky and lavender shadows cast by the building. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right-hand corner of the canvas. The gallery wrapped canvas sides are painted light blue, and the painting is wired and ready to hang. Carol C. Young is a landscape painter working in acrylics and oils. She is a plein air painter as well as a studio artist whose contemporary work is primarily identified by a bold use of light and shadow along with iconic depictions of structures within the rural landscape. Light Catcher, Swimmer, Water, Work on board, Pastel, Blue, Female Figure
By Carol Bennett
Located in Riverdale, NY
Light Catcher is a figurative artwork featuring a female swimmer through the water. It is a Pastel on archival board. It is the first time in 30 years Bennett has created artwork with pastels. The Artwork is 32" x 40". It is framed to 40" x 48" with a white frame. This is new 2023 work by Hawaii artist, Carol Bennett. Carol Bennett spends all of her time surrounded by water, and a great deal within it. Her work is a meditative journey through both the water and through life. She is intrigued by how life continues to flow and change, being both in the moment and timeless. The viewer will experience being in a state “flow” – where the currents of the ocean suspend life and self, and the unexpected floats to the surface. Carol's work has been featured in many solo and group exhibits throughout California, New York, Martha's Vineyard and Hawaii including a 2007 solo show at the First Hawaiian Center at the Contemporary Museum of Art (Honolulu) and a 2018 group show "Making Waves" exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. Her work was seen alongside April Gornik, Agnes Martin, Kiki Smith, and Pat Steir. In 2019, she was also featured in exhibits at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, the Hawaii State Art Museum and a solo exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. She also just completed a 40 piece glass panel commission at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. She has been featured in Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Ocean Home...

Manitou Series Pink
By Liz Dexheimer
Located in Westport, CT
Liz Dexheimer’s abstract, colorful landscapes reveal her fascination with the illusory and transcendent qualities of light and atmosphere. Both serve as a source of inspiration for her work. She is interested in conveying a sense of place that goes beyond any particular location. In her recent paintings, she has been focusing also on the intangibility of the ethereal, the feeling of limitlessness and forever in the far view. She de-constructs found man-made imagery as a point of departure, re-interpreting it to suggest natural light, reflection, what lies beyond. She has always translated everything into a more reductive state, regardless of her source of inspiration, eliminating anecdotal markers, distilling information to try to get at the essence, the idea of it She is drawn to water imagery, the ambiguity of reflections and the multiple horizon lines they create, the contrast between flow and stasis. Dexheimer works with a limited palette , focusing on the sense of fullness, of atmospheric depth that emerges when a few colors interact and intermix. She has an extensive resume’. Dexheimer has shown in numerous galleries and museums. Her work is in many important collections including Essex House...

Dappled Forest, Pointillist Forest Landscape, Green Leaves, Brown Trees, Woods
Located in Kent, CT
In this pointillist landscape, a forest scene with trees in woods is carefully painted in colorful dots in acrylic and gouache on Duralar mounted on panel. Signed and dated on verso. Kirstin Lamb’s gridded, meticulously detailed paintings on transparent acetate are labor-intensive paintings of labor-intensive textiles and patterns. To create these embroidery paintings, Lamb starts by generating a digitized grid and painstakingly painting each individual gridded stitch by hand using acrylic and gouache on a wet media acetate. The process creates a one-to-one relationship of mark to stitch, the act of each brushstroke serving for the stitch of a needle. Lamb’s embroidery paintings draw patterns from French floral wallpaper of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, while others draw inspiration from vintage embroidery...

Field Painting June 25 2022, Summer Landscape, Green Tree, Lavender Flowers
By Thomas Sarrantonio
Located in Kent, CT
A peaceful outdoor scene with a grassy field with lavender, blue and purple flowers beneath a tree with dark green leaves, beautifully capturing the idyllic feel of a field of wildflowers in late June. Signed, dated and titled on verso. The paintings of Thomas Sarrantonio seek to mediate between realms of external perception and internal reflection. They present themselves as meditations on nature and self. Choosing humble, often overlooked subject matter, such as the overgrown grasses at the edge of a field, he attempts to translate the dynamic processes of Nature into the stasis of physical matter on a painted surface. Small works are produced directly from Nature while large paintings are studio productions that utilize memory, experience, imagination and conceptual ideas to negotiate the terrain of contemporary painting. The paintings are offered to the viewer as templates to provoke active participation in the process of seeing and quiet contemplation of the act of consciousness. Thomas Sarrantonio studied Painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia where his teachers included Wil Barnet...
