A good pair of 19th century still life paintings, oil on board by the British Victorian Period artist Henry P. Gill who flourished in the 1880s and 1890s. The first with two beautifully painted long stemmed roses alongside a branch of lavender, white periwinkle, creeping forget-me-not and lily of the valley. With bee and ladybird. Signed to right hand lower margin ‘H. Gill’ and set in its original period giltwood frame and gilt slip. To verso of this picture is a label which reads ‘Presented to Mrs. Scott by the Artist, October 19th 1891. The second with cut lemons in a glass surrounded by grapes, pear, apple, white currants and a peach with a wasp hovering above. Also signed to lower margin right ‘H. Gill’. Extremely beautiful and realistic and in original period frame and gilt slip. To verso of the board inside is a label which reads ‘Glass and Fruit, November 14th 1891. We are really excited to offer this magnificent Art Deco Scandinavian bedroom suite dating to the 1930’s. This exceptional suite is new to the market having been in the same family from new. It originates from Scandinavia and is veneered in rare and exotic pale Thuya veneers. The suite comprises a super king size bed (6 ft wide), complete with a central support and 4 slated panels on which the mattresses sit neatly (not supplied, mattresses shown are for display only). The bed is veneered in Thuya as are the side rails which slot firmly into the head and footboard producing a very strong and sturdy frame. The headboard and footboard are bordered by a very fine line of gold laquer and the whole raised on original ebonised and gold accented outswept feet. Further, included are original to the suite matching bedsides again completely veneered to the top, sides snd shelves in Thuya. They are a very attractive design which sits beautifully with todays styles. The pair of cabinets both have drop down doors which reveal a good sized cupboard and the door producing another surface when down. The handles are absolutely original, wooden,ebonised examples in really lovely condition as are the catches and hinges (the hinges have been taken off, serviced and refitted to ensure everything works beautifully. Beneath, each have asymmetric open cupboard/shelves which are very decorative in their own right.. Finally, this suite includes its original chest of drawers again stunning to look at being veneered in the most wonderful examples of Thuya veneer Which is of a pale blonde colouration. This is a highly decorative antique Victorian silver plated folding biscuit box, the base bearing the makers' mark of the renowned silversmiths Fenton Brothers of Sheffield, England, circa 1890 in date and bearing the Staniforth's Patent mark as well as the registration number 4467. It has a beautifully shaped body sitting in a cast frame with remarkably chased branch supports and the original interior features elegant hand-pierced dividers. It opens out into two halves and is held shut by gorgeous laurel wreath loose ring handles at the top. This wonderful container could house anything from sweets to biscuits or trinkets. Whatever you choose to store in this lovely item you are sure to do it in style. Condition: In excellent condition. As an antique item, the piece shows signs of use commensurate with age, these minor condition issues are mentioned for accuracy and, as seen in the accompanying photographs, the biscuit box displays beautifully, please see photos for confirmation.
