Tall Side-Table or Artwork Pedestal, Found Wood and Various Materials, Painted
By John Seubert
Located in Chicago, IL
Made from found and reclaimed wood, each of John Seubert's Crash Tables are unique and meticulously crafted. He calls them Crash Tables because they are a collision of parts created from table legs, stair railings, chair backs, etc. which are mitered together to form a solid construction. Once assembled, the table is painted and then distressed to give it an antiqued appearance. Created from salvaged and recycled materials, this pedestal table represents the utmost in sustainable design. "Less Talk, More Work" is painted with a blue grey paint and also boast four drawers painted in white paint. Each drawer's antique library storage finger pull is adorned with the words stamped on metal: Less, Talk, More, Work. John Seubert Less Talk, More Work found objects Measures: 45.50 H x 20 W x 20 D in 115.57 H x 50.80 W x 50.80 D cm JSE028 In the early Nineties, John Seubert was living in a former hotel in a high-rise building on St. James Place in Chicago. The apartment was tiny, as hotel rooms tend to be, and clad with paper-thin walls allowing sound to pass from one apartment to the other. At the time, John’s artwork consisted of pounding copper sheets into tables which was a noisy endeavor to say the least. Following several noise complaints from the neighbors, John had a dream that he was living in a ramshackle house but with plenty of room to work and no attached neighbors. The following day after lunching at the McDonalds in Lincoln Park, John wandered the neighborhood a came upon a shabby, falling-down old Victorian house. He located the real estate agent...

Pair of Chinese Art Deco Oval Stools, c. 1900
Located in Chicago, IL

This oval stool is a product of the era, crafted in turn-of-the-century Shanghai with simple geometries and supple, flowing lines. Minimally decorated to highlight the natural beauty of its hardwood construction, the stool features four legs ending in rounded hoofed feet...

By Jim Rose
Located in Chicago, IL
Jim Rose - Legacy Collection One-drawer plank top table found steel with natural rust patina Measures: 27.50 H x 31.50 W x 27.50 D in 69.85 H x 80.01 W x 69.85 D cm JR0229 Jim Rose b. 1966, d. 2023 Bio: Born in Indiana, Jim Rose lived in Europe until he returned to the United States to attend college. After one year at Bard College, Jim transferred to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC) where he graduated in 1988 with a BFA. His skillful interpretation of the Shaker design is a result of intense research and field study of Shaker furniture, architecture, culture and history. After over two decades of dedicated work, he has mastered the minimalism of the Shaker technique and created his own unique visual vernacular. The quilts of Gee's Bend have become a monumental influence taking this artist's work to new levels of unique interpretation and artistry. His selection of aged steel results in a patina directly related to that of aged wood while his colored strips beautifully mimic worn cloth. Each piece of furniture is masterfully made and intended for daily use. Jim Rose’s steel furniture is featured every year at SOFA Chicago for the past 25 years.
