Anil Kumar Yadav - Aradhana-76 Acrylic on Canvas 36 x 48 inches, 2024 ( Rolled & Delivered ) STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism. Mirror Couple, Acrylic on Canvas, Painting, Red, Green, Blue Colors "In Stock"
By Farhad Hussain
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Farhad Hussain - Mirror Couple : 36 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : Farhad Hussain's colourful work that includes drawings and watercolours besides paintings on canvas, features day to day visual experiences of the middle class urban India. He endows his narrative with an iconography and personality through his figuration, their posturing, dress and the surrounding imagery. The drama of subtle complexities of human relationships and social environment are grounded with a sense of satire mixed with pathos. Farhad’s colours help enhance the brightness and aura of his paintings while he also partakes elements from traditions such as the formulaic textile patterns of Indian miniatures. His compositions are often set in a familiar drawing room or a social space, playing out with humour and sarcasm, the narrative psychologies of human life and encounters at various levels. This young artist who has also experimented with sculpture, has already carved a niche and an instantly recognizable individualistic style befitting his aesthetics and concerns. Farhad has chosen to use tempera on cloth for his works, the media allowing him to achieve the desired vibrancy of colours. A slow build-up of images and spontaneous flow of colour while balancing colour and composition simultaneously follow structured formatting. This meticulous planning in the composition and layout is the beginning of a process from where onwards it is very spontaneous and intuitive. Another technique used through out Farhad’s work is the method of applying colour: dot-by-dot till the entire area is completely covered. Various elements from miniature paintings, Kalighat paintings, Japanese prints and images from mass media are scrutinized, transformed and transferred on to the surface through the artists own style of expression. About the Artist and his works : Born : 1975 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Cityscape, Acrylic on Canvas, Brown, Red, Grey by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Tapas Ghosal
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Tapas Ghosal - Untitled - 12 x 12 inches ( unframed size) ) Acrylic on Canvas , 2021 *** Framed ( packing :complimentary; shipping cost would need to be extra) Style : In Hindu philosophy, the 'Antahkaran' refers to the totality of two levels of mind , namely the Buddhi, the intellect or higher mind, and the Manas, the middle levels of mind which exist as or include the mental body. It refers to the entire psychological process, including mind and emotions. Ghoshal’s paintings weaves an Antahkaran, creating structural spaces, sometimes meditative & melancholic in nature. His contemplative mind, enters into the inner realm of reality, dissects it and extracts a kind of mystic silence. The extant contemplative in wardress in him got charged with meditative spirituality through his association with this heritage city. Benaras, started flowing in his canvasses both through landscapes and human faces. Since 1995-96 his Benaras paintings started transforming. Initially his landscapes contained reflection of naturalness transformed through melancholic chiaroscuro. Gradually the naturalness started disintegrating into expressionistic structures. At a certain stage during 2004-05 some of these structures yielded into abstractions shedding all the links with naturalness. Then again the sign-symbols integrated into geometrical structures reflecting traces of original locations. About the Artist and his works : Born : Born in 1965. Tapas spent his childhood and early youth in the quiet idyllic environment of rural Bengal. The soothing lyrical landscape and the intrinsic mythical past within the rural life made a great impact in his inner being, which aroused in him love for beauty, spiritual in nature, making him contemplative and inward looking. Educational Qualification : 1989 : Graduation in Painting from Govt.College of Art and Craft, Kolkata (First Class First) 1992 : Post Graduate in Painting from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (First Class). Solo Exhibition : 1993 : The Centre Art Gallery, Kolkata; 1994 : Gallery Katayun, Kolkata; 1997 : Gallery Katayun, Kolkata; 1997 : ABC Art...

Re Vision, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Birendra Pani
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Birendra Pani - Re Vision - 66 x 42 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas , 2008 ** Will be delivered in rolled form. Should you want the work in ready to hand condition please contact gallery for freight calculation. In this series of works - “Boy - Dancer”, Gallery Kolkata revisits the artists very popular and well lauded ‘Boy Dancer’ suite of paintings on the plight of traditional Gopitua dancers from his native land, Odisha. The boy dancers who perform a devotional dance ritual are quickly declining in today’s cosmopolitan world. Pani entwines his empathy for the dying art with an opinion on our post-Modern era. In that respect, Pani does not try to create nostalgia for the decline in the taste for the dancers, instead he problematizes the issue by bringing in a dispassionate view of the issue. The ten canvases on display in this exhibition, features the Gopitua dancers in different situations. The canvases are a hyper-real portrait, far & close shots of a Gopitua dancers with liquid innocent eyes and a small smile playing upon his lips as he confronts the viewer. The blade is a recurring motif in Pani’s work and it has multiple functions and meanings. In this instance its meaning is rather clear — one where modernity eclipses tradition. Style : His fresh, perspective and contemporary canvases have loud and vivid images and use colors like green and shocking pink unashamedly. Pani says his works are preoccupied with exploring contemporary materials, culture and current lives of people, the negligence of local places, their culture, history, memory and their identity in present times. Further he feels the consumerist attitude has penetrated deep into the human psyche. Human beings are being consumed by the commodity rather than them consuming it. In his works, Pani explore the struggles, contradictions, dichotomies and critical reflections of the embodied selves with changes in value, knowledge and culture in our present society. “I have extensively used body parts like brain, heart and other organs, and everyday objects like capsule, syringe, blade etc to create a new visual language. Deriving from life experiences, my idea is to create a new vision by the juxtaposition of the above experience with the rich legacy, diverse visual culture and sensibility of the vast tradition of Odisha’s miniatures and Pata paintings, stone carvings, monumental visuals of temples and dance forms like Gopitua dance and Chhau-dance in Odisha.” Pani, thus attempts to create a new phenomenology and the reinvention of ‘self’ in a globalized and yet very localized world. Super Hero's Bathroom, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Blue, by Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Farhad Hussain
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Farhad Hussain - Super Hero's Bathroom - 84 x 72 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style: Farhad Hussain's colourful work that includes drawings and watercolours besides paintings on canvas, features day to day visual experiences of middle-class urban India. He endows his narrative with iconography and personality through his figuration, their posturing, dress and the surrounding imagery. This young artist who has also experimented with sculpture has already carved a niche and an instantly recognizable individualistic style befitting his aesthetics and concerns. Another technique used throughout Farhad’s work is the method of applying the colour: dot-by-dot till the entire area is completely covered. Various elements from miniature paintings, Kalighat paintings, Japanese prints and images from mass media are scrutinized, transformed and transferred on to the surface through the artists own style of expression. About the Artist and his works : Born: 1975 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The Melodious Love, Acrylic on Canson Board by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Pradiptaa Chakraborty
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Pradiptaa Chakraborty - The Melodious Love Acrylic on Canson Board, 5 x 6 inches, 2016 Will be shipped in a roll form. The current bunch of paintings mirrors this human Chinese Chequer , which moves about life as an unguided engine ramming into edifices indiscriminately. The paintings also depict the human scrambling for sensuality and gold – digging. The use of various colours, dark and light, in Pradiptta’s work symbolize the inner somberness and fakery. The interplay of mythical and supernatural machinery has been a significant form of artistic expression in the post – modern art arena and thus is interpreted as lending authenticity to the disarray and phantasmagoria in which man landed into. Style : Colours and semi realistic approach reflect the various images of life. Life is itself a kaleidoscope of fleeting images capturing the joys and disappointments of life. Life is a Juggler’s game whereby games are played out to veil the hidden instincts of human life. The conjurer on the road juggler his paraphernalia to entertain the spectators. Such a showmanship has become the grain of human existence. But now days it has turn to different parabola, all perspective are changing like some tsunami wave pass through of our modern civilization. Present impact of canvas is great drama going on. It is a arrested split second of mythical demonstration in modern apparel in post modern globe. Tries to decipher the mythological structures and traditions of Indian art, Characters from Indian mythico-religious tradition, Traditional commentary and background pigment give the proper optimistic pulsation which is very essential for painting’s vivacity. I want to establish extraordinary encounters, represented with the utmost precision which take place on the canvas and try to procure a wonderful hallucinatory quality in which the real and the imagined merge into one. About the Artist & his work : Born : 1979. Education : 2003 : BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS (B.F.A) in Graphics from Kala Bhavana, Vishva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. Amit Kalla - Untitled - 24 x 24 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas ** Free Shipment ...... will be delivered in rolled form. Style : Kalla’s work can be represented by his commitment to experimenting with social engagement through the arts. It is here his strength lies. Through his deep connection to a cultural expression of a universal spirituality and passionate sense of humanity Kalla, continuously draws people from all communities into acts of creativity in the belief that through creativity people are empowered and communities move incrementally closer to truth. His poetry and paintings are spiritually intuited. While his poems create a secretive world of words, where silence speaks his paintings are calligraphic and draw on the same silent unknowing of invented texts. His paintings represent moments on the continuum; a slice snatched from his deeper hidden journey. The strength of Kalla’s work is that it represents an Indian artist’s quest for an indigenous tenor rather than a superficial inventory of native motifs, there is nothing about his work which relies on a static Indian Identity. About the Artist & his work : Born : 1980 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Education : 2005 - Masters in Art and Aesthetics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 2003 - Graduation in Art History, National Museum Institute specializing in ancient Indian art...

Mahalaxmi, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Yellow by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Anil Kumar Yadav - Mahalaxmi - 36 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas , 2014 ( UNFRAMED ALL IN DOOR DELIVERED ) STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. Structures, Painting, Oil on canvas, Band of colors by Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Somenath Maity
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Somenath Maity - Structures - 40 x 40 inches (unframed size) Oil on canvas The frame is a part of the work, the work will be shipped in a crate. Style : Somenath Maity is self-professedly an artist of urban environments and cultures. Called avant-garde and unconventional for his landscapes, this artist’s favourite occupation is to find the inner beauty that exists in every big city and that most people don’t see or bother to look for, and then express it in his abstract oils on canvas. Maity builds up his paintings, all aptly titled structure, one brush stroke at a time, almost as an architect would work on a blueprint for a building. Maity’s colors and textures are strong, bringing to the forefront the life of the urban sprawls that he paints, and investing them with a force that works beyond the life of their inhabitants, keeping them ticking no matter who comes or goes, lives or dies. Christ, Charcoal & Pastel on Canvas, Black by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Bratin Khan
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Bratin Khan - Christ Charcoal & Pastel on Canvas, 30 x 24 inches, 2009 The anecdotes and narratives of Krishna's life are generally titled as Krishna Leela. He is a central character in the Mahabharata, the Bhagavata Purana and the Bhagavad Gita, and is mentioned in many Hindu philosophical, theological, and mythological texts. They portray him in various perspectives: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, and as the universal supreme being. His iconography reflects these legends, and shows him in different stages of his life, such as an infant eating butter, a young boy playing a flute, a young man with Radha or surrounded by women devotees, or a friendly charioteer giving counsel to Arjuna. He is sometimes accompanied by cows or a calf, which symbolise the divine herdsman Govinda. Alternatively, he is shown as a romantic and seductive man with the gopis (milkmaids), often making music or playing pranks. Style : Marked for the refined handling of line work and palette, his painterly compositions, reflect influences of folk art and Bengal School. The renderings are poetic and the narratives mythical, folklore-inspired or religious. His curvaceous and languid figures, often accompanied by a surrounding halo, are set amidst a natural habitat. The imagery features Buddha, Krishna, other legendry icons as well as pretty damsels and lotus flowers. Figures dominate the whole thinking process of his paintings with different subjects such as mermaids, musicians (Classical Musicians , Rajasthani Folk Singers and Baul Singers) and mythological figures appearing in his works. He was deeply influenced by the life Sri Aurobindo and thus enlightened beings. Such as Buddha, Jesus and Krishna are also a recurring theme in his Golden Man series. His focus on detail and remarkable skill over the line make his style unique. He uses a traditional method of tempera painting which goes back to the Indian miniature though the material he uses is totally contemporary. Knowledge of the wash technique further enables him to create a soft, twilight effect in his paintings. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1969, West Bengal. Education : 1993 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting), Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Selected Solo Exhibitions : 2000 - Classic Source, Mumbai. 1999 - Rightlines Art Gallery, Bangalore. 1993 - Grindlays Bank Gallery, Kolkata. Euroscape -1, Mixed Media on Canvas, Red, Blue by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Asit Poddar
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Asit Poddar - Euroscape - 1 - 8.5 x 8 inches (unframed size) Mixed Media on Canvas. Style : It is not enough to say that Asit Poddar is a multifaceted and greatly talented artist. Not only a gifted watercolorist, Poddar is also experienced and very well established in the fields of filmmaking, animation, photography, publishing, graphic designing and printmaking. For this artist, firsthand experience was a great source of inspiration. To look into the past - both recent and distant - is a creative process. It is this continuous flow of the past and the present that reflects richly in his paintings. In his works, you can see what he saw in his extensive travels to South Asian and European countries. You can feel the silence he felt on the mountains and revel in the world he sees through his mind's eye. His fluid lines and watercolor fills capture everything that Poddar takes in, from the vast expanse of high ominous peaks and deep dark gorges in black and white to the city of Varanasi and the river Ganges in vivid color. Human figures are missing in the paintings, but it seems like this is part of the artist's effort in his intent to leave a strong imprint in the mind of the viewer. About the Artist & his works : Education : 1980-82 : International Animation and Photography Institute, Japan 1972-77 : Government Art College, Kolkata. Illusion Watch, Pen & Ink on Paper, Black by Modern Indian Artist “In Stock”
By Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya - Untitled - (unframed size) Pen & Ink on Paper , 11 x 8 inches , 2009 (Delivered) One of the most popular series of the Master Artist, The Golden Flute is the artists more romantic renedition of Art. The iconic figures of Krishna, Radha, and Ganesha that found lyrical expression in the Icons series are modern representations and sophisticated idealizations of the same images in the popular media. Krishna is a cosmic musician, and the tune he creates by playing his transcendental flute is embodied with cosmic energy. When Krishna is depicted as being between the age of 5 and 8, it is always with his flute. Therefore, during this period, he is aptly called Murlidhara (murali means “flute,” and dhara means “hold”), signifying the one who holds the flute. He is never without it, whether he is with his mother, on the grazing grounds with his herd of cows, among his cowherd companions or roaming around on the Jamuna banks. Gopis lose their selves in this tune. For them, music becomes the voice of love, which is too passionate and secretive. Style : The city of Kolkata has always figured prominently in his work. His themes come from his personal interactions with its urban milieu - its sickness and sordidness, its violence and vulnerability and all that compounds its existential agony. Shuvaprasanna has depicted varying moods of the city and its people, its places, and all its facets that make the city distinctive. He doesn't merely portray reality as 'matter of fact' and his presentation of reality often has dream-like elements in it. In terms of technique, Shuvaprasanna boasts a precise, finely executed style that yields an unmistakable visual intensity. He works comfortably in an assortment of media, including oil on canvas, charcoal, and mixed media. About the Artist and his work : Born : In Calcutta, 1947. Education : Graduated from Indian College of Art (R.B. University, Calcutta) in 1969. Exhibitions : Shuvaprasanna has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Tao Art Gallery and at the Chawla Art Gallery, Square One Mall. Several works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'ABODE' sold at Waddington's 'Fine Prints & Photography Auction' in 2014. There have been many articles about Shuvaprasanna, including 'An exclusive edifice' written by Kunal Ray for The Hindu in 2014. Selected Solo Exhibitions : 2011 - Shuvaprasanna: Recent Works, CIMA, Centre of International Modern Art, India, Kolkata 2010 - Summer Show 2010, CIMA, Centre of International Modern Art, India, Kolkata 2007 - ‘Madhura: The Golden Flute’, organized by Indian Contemporary at Visual Arts Centre, Hong Kong 2006 - ‘The Divine Flute’, Aicon Gallery, USA 2002 - ‘Icons and Illusions’, Gallery ArtsIndia, New York 1998 - ‘An Appreciation of Ted Hughes’, Exhibition of Crow Paintings...

Madhuri Bhaduri - Untitled Mixed Media on Canvas, 24 x 24 inches, 2016 Born on the 8th of June 1958, Madhuri Bhaduri has been a successful artist for the past four decades, exhibiting her works since 1986 in all major cities in India and Abroad. Madhuri has obtained her Master of Art and Painting from S.N.D.T women’s University, Mumbai. Madhuri’s art works have gradually veered from the figurative to the abstractionist mode. As her inner being matured so did the way she expressed her thought process and feeling on canvas. Each new series exploring the various planes of emotional experiences in a dialogue of brush and paint that is warm, vivid, sensual and completely resounding with the message of her inner spirit where there is spontaneity, hope, joy and fulfillment. In 2002 this multi-dimensional artist took to sculpting and creating “assemblages” using metal scraps, in an endeavor to understand and realize more completely what form and shape are all about, savoring the possibilities of the expression as sculpture. Madhuri Bhaduri’s art works have featured in thirty-eight solo shows and more than seventy-six group shows in India and abroad. She has received several prestigious awards during her art journey including the latest being felicitated by the Women’s Economic Forum (WEF) at The Hague, Netherlands for “Exceptional Woman of Excellence” in Art (2018) and lead three panel discussions on empowering leadership and inspiring influence on women empowerment on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
