Pendant brooch designed by Nanna Ditzel for Georg Jensen.
Very rare sculptural pendant brooch, created in Denmark at the Georg Jensen Studios by Nanna Ditzel, back in the 1960. This sculptural piece has the reference model number 1328 and was carefully crafted with modernist cushioned patterns in yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The piece is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar and a mechanical lock to be wear as a brooch or a pendant in a wire as pictured.
Country: Denmark.
Period: Modernist 1960.
Weight: 24.20 grams, (15.54 Dwt.).
Measurements: 52. mm by 40 mm by 14 mm (2.04 x 1.58 x 0.55 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the post 1945 Georg Jensen maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 gold, the model number and signed in full as follows: ".750 GEORG JENSEN ND 18K 1328".
Nanna Ditzel
She was born in 1923. Was a Danish designer graduated from the furniture department of the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. Has been studying under prof. Kaare Klint at the Royal Academy of Copenhagen. Nanna Ditzel is working with experimental and industrial design furniture, textiles, silver, faience and glass. Has experimented with the use of split-level living for indoors and outdoors. These ideas have been carried out in playgrounds, children’s libraries and showrooms. She is a freelance designer; she has a design office and showrooms in London. Nanna Ditzel started an independent design office in 1946 together with Jorgen Ditzel. The co-operation lasted until the death of Jorge Ditzel in 1961. Nanna Ditzel created many designs for Georg Jensen, mostly jewelry although she also created some hollowware. The relationship between the couple and the Silversmith began when Nanna decided to start designing jewelry as something she could do at home while her children slept. Soon after, a jewelry competition sponsored by A. Michelsen arose, and her designs had won first prize. Later, in 1954, Finn Juhl, who was developing the 50th anniversary exhibition, passed the design work off for the exhibition to Dietzel’s. Five pieces of jewelry were created for this exhibition, which were very well received. Further jewelry designs were created, and many of these pieces would go on to win various awards and prizes. In 1968, Nanna Ditzel remarried to Kurt Heide and relocated to London where they continued to work in the realm of design, establishing their own company Nanna Ditzel Productions Ltd. In 1986, her second husband passed away, and she moved back to Denmark, continuing her work. In recent years, Ditzel has focused mainly on furniture design, such as the Trinidad chair in 1993, however this design has also led to further refinement for her jewelry pieces such as the bracelet #389 in 1994. Ditzel has won many major awards during her long career and has had her work exhibited all over the world. She received the silver and gold medals at the Milan Tirennale (1954 and 1960), the Lunning Prize (with Jorgen Ditzel in 1954) and a gold medal at the International Furniture Design Competition in 1990, and the Thorvald Bindesboll Medal in 1999. She has also taken on the title of Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog, Honorable Royal Designer (1996). From Georg Jensen Hollowware, The Silver fund Collection, David A. Taylor & Jason W. 4 Reale Denomination growing increasingly rare: Most of the coins on board the Atocha were of the 8 Reale denomination. Due to their smaller size, 2 and 4 Reale coins didn't survive the shipwreck as well as the larger 8 Reale coins did.
Grade 2 dictates that the coin was retrieved from the middle of the pack in the wreckage with less corrosion compared to Grade 3 or 4. The Potosi Mint signifies that the coin was minted in northern Peru, modern-day Bolivia.

The design is composed by forty-one oval elements, irregularly placed and embellished with oval flat cabochons carved from natural Afghani blue lapis lazuli. The watch is an open face with a round dial of 30 mm carved from non-spotted blue lapis lazuli.

After military service, he attended art school and then decided to go abroad to pursue his career. In 1963 he joined the Swiss jewelers Simon Schlegel, in Bern, before formally partnering with Schlegel in 1968 as Schlegel & Plana. Julia-Plana and Schlegel enjoyed a successful partnership together, designing and producing jewels for several established European firms, amongst them the French firm of Aldebert, and the Dutch firm of Bonebakker, as well as for watch firms such as Clerc and Yves Saint Blaise. They also counted fashionable women of high society amongst their clients, with Princess Soraya of Iran reportedly being a patron. Julia-Plana was known for using unusual materials in his designs, such as wood, meteorite, maw sit sit, and oxidized iron, selecting materials for their innate beauty rather than monetary value. He won several awards during his career, including multiple German jewelry awards, and four Diamonds International Awards. The De Beers Diamonds International Awards, which began in 1954, was considered the ‘Oscars’ of the jewelry industry, and rewarded beauty, originality, and imaginative use of materials. Julia-Plana won his first Diamonds International Awards in 1965, for a ‘V’ shaped bracelet of structured gold links decorated with diamonds, and won the award a second time in 1967, for a bracelet of shell shaped links, set with diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. In 1969 he won the award for two separate designs, one ring set with diamonds and lapis lazuli cubes, and one brooch with tiger’s eye plates and diamonds, and in the same year gained membership of the Diamonds International Academy, joining fellow designers such as Andrew Grima and Gilbert Albert. Julia-Plana's unique and highly regarded designs are rare to see and can be found in the collections of tiffany & co. among others Swiss jewelry houses, with the watchmaker Simon Schlegel and Yves Saint Blaise, as well as under his own name and always are unique pieces. Julia-Plana tragically died at the height of his career in 1979, at age 45, of heart failure. As a note, Julia-Plana's unique and highly regarded designs are rare to see and can be found in the collections of tiffany & co. among others Swiss jewelry houses, with the watchmaker Simon Schlegel and Yves Saint Blaise, as well as under his own name and always are unique pieces, never mass produced.
