Mid-Cenury Primitivist Marble Vase with Relief Carved Geometric Detailing
Located in New York, NY
This sophisticated Mid Century Modern primitivist vase was realized in France circa 1950. It features a cylindrical body that tapers towards the top with a flared mouth that cantilevers over the body of the piece- in a beautiful white exotic marble. The surface of the vase has been handcarved in relief with a wealth of geometric motifs including stylized celtic knots bookended on top and bottom by deconstructed Greek key motifs. Additionally, there is an arched form with a open circle approaching the top of this piece. With its clean modernist lines, monochromatic palate, and patently (and beautifully) hand crafted aesthetic, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century to contremporary. While it is a perfectly functional vase...
