Rr126 Stereo System Designed by Achille Castiglioni, Made by Brionvega, 1965
By Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Brionvega
Located in Madrid, ES
RR126 stereo system was designed in 1965 by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. This one is made of dark brown wood veneer and manufactured by Brionvega, Milan, in the 1960s. Made of chipboard, wood veneer, perspex and aluminum base on wheels. The loudspeaker boxes can be hinged to the sides, put above the record player or positioned in the room. Its wood cabinet and speakers are made by hand, which is why no two pieces are exactly identical. This “serial diversity” has made it a timeless success.

Art Nouveau Barrel Organ, Casa Viena, Oviedo, Spain, circa 1900
By Casa Viena
Located in Madrid, ES
In the frontal area presents, engraved, the name of the firm that made it, the Vienna House of Oviedo. This company was, next to the White House, the most important in Asturias dedicated to the sale of furniture and musical instruments. Its shops were located in the streets of Oviedo, Melquíades Álvares and Uría, and in its somewhat aggressive advertising, they presented themselves as the best of Asturian establishments of this type, criticizing even other firms. In fact, his commercials sold the idea that owning a piano of the House Vienna was symbol of distinction between the Asturian society. It was thus appealed to the necessary musical interest that should have someone who belonged to a high social class, something constant between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth. The company remained active until 1992, and its relevance is evident by the fact that in the 1970s it established an
annual pianistic competition in Oviedo that achieved regional and national renown. This contest was the basis of the current International Symphony of Piano, based in Oviedo. On the other hand, the Vienna House had the exclusivity in Asturias of the World brand, for the sale of manubrio pianos. The mechanical piano was invented in Paris by Debain around 1850. His system was to add to a vertical...
