The Butterfly series for Ash began as a sentiment to her late Father. Butterflies began to appear in unexplainable ways after his passing, the artist later discovered that Butterflies represent spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope, and life - she goes on to say: "The butterfly series draws inspiration from Rivera's quote 'Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can.'" After coming to the fruition that Butterflies pose as not only a symbol for beauty and rebirth, Almonte felt a feeling of deep comfort. Her passion for sharing this message of hope and renewal through her colorfully diverse canvases is achieved with resilience leaving her audience glimmering much like the inner voice and the spark of Joie de vivre that fuels her purpose in life to create. In that building were many other artists including Henderson's teacher and long-time collaborator, Edward Laning. A Kansas City native, Henderson was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome. Inspired by whimsey and purity of the feminine form, Cindy Shaoul is known for her impressionistic and abstract style. She is best known for her series of Brides, Dripping Dots and Hearts, as well as her Plein air street scenes of quintessential New York spots. Shaoul’s works can be found in permanent collections of 100’s of Corporate and Private Collections around the world.
Since her first solo show at the Parsons School of Design in 2009, her work has been showcased internationally in Busan South Korea and has shown at Art Fairs in Miami, Palm Beach, Dallas, and New York. She has had numerous Solo exhibitions and this year has garnered the attention of Actress Lily J. Collins and the like.
Her love of painting began at the age of 18 when she was on Thanksgiving break from college. She painted a 9 foot colorful, abstract Mural in her Mothers' art studio and never stopped after that. She later traveled to Hungary and Budapest, picking up inspiration and studying abroad for 2 years, which has connected lifelong experiences that would influence her art today. Bilson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland. At the age of five he moved to London, England, speaking Icelandic rather more fluently than English. He realised that nobody was listening and started to paint. His unique talent was first noticed a year later, when, at the age of six, he won an international Exhibition of Children’s Art competition in Prague, Czechoslovakia. At the age of nineteen he became a full-time professional: self-taught, self-propelled and completely self-supported. He has painted ever since.
Bilson has lived in various countries including Australia, Hong Kong, USA, Canada, Ireland and now resides happily in Iceland. There continues to be a great deal of travelling and painting on the move, as well as continuing to exhibit worldwide.
