This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver fruit/dessert cutlery set consists of twelve knives and twelve forks.
The blades of the knives have a rounded form and the forks each have four tines/prongs; the surface of each are plain and unembellished apart from the feature hallmarks.
Each piece of this silver flatware service is fitted with the original hallmarked sterling silver handle, crafted in the Reed and Ribbon pattern; this pattern is also known as the Empire II pattern.
Each handle is encompassed with a paralleling border of reed and tied ribbon decoration, terminating at the original sterling silver ferrules ornamented with plain embossed bands.
Each knife and fork is fitted to the fine and impressive original hinged oak wood canteen box with a lift up lid and lift out tray.
The interior of the box retains the original velvet lining.
The interior of the cover bears a satin lining bearing the retailer's mark 'Mappin & Webb, 220 Regent Street, London'.
This impressive canteen box is ornamented with a brass vacant shaped cartouche to the cover.
This exceptional solid silver Edwardian service, crafted by the renowned silversmiths Mappin & Webb Ltd, is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire.
Condition
This antique boxed canteen is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
The decoration is all very sharp.
The original box has been polished by a cabinet maker and is in excellent presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each handle and blade, in addition to the reverse of each fork drop are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.

This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver egg cruet set consists of three egg cups and three associated spoons, displayed on a functional original purpose-made stand.
The original hallmarked egg cups have a bell shaped form onto a circular spreading pedestal foot.
These silver egg cups are embellished with cast and applied floral and foliate decorated borders to the upper portions, in addition to a band of leaf decoration to the each foot.
The three associated hallmarked English sterling silver spoons have a plain tapering form with leaf ornamentation to the terminals.
This silver cruet set is supported and displayed on the original and impressive cast sterling silver circular rounded stand, ornamented with foliate decoration.
The surface of the stand bears three circular receivers enabling the egg cups to stand securely in situ; these supports alternate with integrated receivers for the three egg spoons.
The receivers surmount an exceptional pedestal constructed of three putto figures stood with their arms elevated, bracing scrolling supports to the plain circular boss.
The original antique stand features a central carrying handle modelled in the form of a foliate wreath.
Each antique egg cup and egg spoon retains the original gilt interior.
The initials displayed within the maker's marks, in addition to the standardization of the surround could pertain to a multitude of antique silversmiths; these silversmiths include William Eaton, Ellerby, Esterbrook and Eley II.

The upper rim of the body is ornamented with a band of cast and applied gadroon decoration all in a swirl design.
This antique silver teapot is fitted with a hallmarked, domed flush hinged cover surmounted with an impressive and original, cast sterling silver flame style finial; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece.
This exceptional example of antique teaware retains the original C scroll carved painted wood handle featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece and a cast silver leaf decorated design to the upper socket,
This impressive example of antique silverware has a cast silver swan necked spout embellished with fluted decoration and applied leaf motif to the lip.
The ornamentation to the underside of the spout incorporates a vacant oval cartouche below a shell motif.
The cast circular spreading foot is encircled with further gadroon decoration to the rim.
Note: This maker may have been recorded in the missing 1739-1758 Smallworkers' Register or the 1758-1773 Largeworkers' Register, determining this maker's mark to be classed as 'unidentified' in all documents. The mark has been discovered on other holloware items such as mugs, salts and sauce boats.

This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot.
The upper and lower portions of this piece are embellished with embossed and chased bead and scroll decoration accenting concave bordered, fluted decoration all in a spiral design.
The sugar caster retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover, embellished with pierced decoration incorporating chased and embossed bead and scroll decoration, the screw fit attachment indicates the fine quality of this piece.
The cover is further ornamented with a gadroon decorated border to the rim and is surmounted by a fine and impressive scroll decorated shaped baluster style finial.
The foot of this piece is embellished with embossed and chased stylized fluted decoration in a spiral design.

The pieces of this service have been crafted by the collectable, renowned silversmith and flatware maker George Adams of Chawner & Co in 1863; eleven of the dessert spoons bear a subtly different size to the remaining twelve, this does not detract from the service.
This antique flatware service is supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing.
Note: Due to the nature of this service it can be determined it was made for military use. Each piece would have been embellished with an engraved crest which has since been removed; there remains minor signs of the engraving to some pieces.
"Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.
Condition
This thread and shell pattern cutlery set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The pattern decoration has sympathetic wear in keeping with age and use. Each piece shows minor signs of an erased engraved crest. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; there is some wear to some marks, in keeping with age.
