Javanese 19th Century Teak Wood Daybed with Storage and Hand Woven Rattan
Located in Yonkers, NY
An antique Javanese teak wood daybed from the 19th century, with rattan seat, storage and hand carved scrolling motifs. Handcrafted on the island of Java during the 19th century, this teak (a very sturdy wood) daybed charmed us right away with its rustic character and great presence. We found it in Java on an excursion during the early 1980s. The bed features a hand-carved headboard with scrolling cloud motifs, flanked with straight supports topped with pyramidal finials. Antique French Gothic Oak Chaise Longue, Circa 1870
Located in Dallas, TX
In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was not uncommon for skilled craftsmen to repurpose older wood carvings into their own furniture creations. A French menuisier utilized this technique (circa 1870), incorporating a previously carved chair back and arms into the construction of this Gothic style chaise lounge. Based on the faded Gothic motifs and age separations, the repurposed pieces were most likely carved in the 16th century. The Gothic period carvings seen on the top rail include a series of foliate groupings flanked by bulbous finials. Although the carvings have faded over the course of centuries, the finials might have been leaf cups, which were often seen during the Gothic period. The back rest has been adorned with arcading beneath an infilled niche that is flanked by a pair of linenfold carvings. A cream colored cushion has been affixed by small nails above an apron embellished with barb tracery and ogee brackets. The entire lounge is supported by six block legs, with the back four extending directly from the back and the arms. Relatively low to the ground, our French Gothic oak...

Vela round canopy is a modulate system with an elementary prismatic geometry that bases its singularity in the balance of its proportions. Wheels assembly on the bottom to allow 360 degrees rotation. Adjustable curtains and adjustable daybed back. Daybed and canopy frame: White lacquered Parasol roof: White sunvision fabric Curtain: White Dimension: Ø 85.8'' x H 79.5'' Weight: 51kg Canopy system made of thermo-lacquered aluminium profiles. Madame B, Felt and Wood Chaise Lounge, Drake / Anderson in Stackabl
By Drake/Anderson
Located in New York, NY
STACKABL is a configurator that allows anyone to customize furniture online, an innovative system that allows you to turn high-quality, surplus metal, wood, and felt offcuts from our manufacturing partners – located within a 150-mile-radius – into fully finished, custom works ready to be shipped to your home or project. Aided by algorithms and robotics, the configurator identifies remnant inventory (in the form of metal, wood, and felt) that fits your aesthetic choices. This inventory is then put back through the manufacturers' own machines, and into the hands of their own experts, who execute your design. In the fall of 2020, Maison Gerard paired with STACKABL to show just what can be accomplished with the configurator. Maison Gerard tapped the talents of six prominent designers, asking them to create pieces of their own within STACKABL. Drake / Anderson's Madame chaise: Named after Madame Récamier, the 19th-century French socialite noted for her extreme beauty and intellectual prowess as well as her salon, which drew literary and political luminaries of the time, this Modernist take on the chaise lounge invites conversation and stimulates thought. Its crimson hue and sloping shoulders recall the sensuality of neoclassical portraiture, while the slice of shocking pink lending a piquant contrast at the base is an ode to another famous Madame, Elsa Schiaparelli, the provocative fashion designer who popularized the bright shade in her 1940s couture...
