More than any other artist, his ever-evolving, evocative style has come to define modern art of the 20th century, and to this day he continues to gain recognition. Combining saturated color with a jarring simplicity, Buste d'homme barbu represents an important series of bearded men portraits that the artist composed during the last few years of his life. Many of Picasso's works from his last years capture the visage of his wife Jacqueline, who was his chief model during this period. Rendered in neutral hues and light blue, the guitar accompanied by the column and table are comprised of geometric shapes often found in Pablo Picasso's Cubist work. A lithograph from the Marina Picasso Estate Collection after the Pablo Picasso painting "Gueridon et guitare". The original painting was completed in 1920. In the 1970's after Picasso's death, Marina Picasso, his granddaughter, authorized the creation of this lithograph by Laurent Marcel Salinas, who worked closely with Picasso during his lifetime. The limited edition print run was completed and published by Marina Picasso in conjunction with Jackie Fine Arts in 1982. The lithograph is printed on French Arches paper, ink-stamped by the Estate verso, and hand-signed by Marina Picasso on the recto.
