Artist Biography: Al Souza was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1944 and currently resides in Worcester, Massachusetts. He has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. His work is part of numerous collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Dallas Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of Art, Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Tyler Museum of Art, University of Houston, Houston Airport System, City of Houston, New Orleans Museum of Art, Mississippi Museum of Art, Montgomery Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Yale University Art Gallery, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Parrish Art Museum, DeCordova Museum, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, and the University of Massachusetts. Souza was awarded an International Association of Art Critics/USA Award in 2007 for Best Show in a Commercial Gallery Nationally, 1st Place, for the exhibition David Ireland...

Eli Content (born in Switzerland 1943) followed in 1974 the education at the Ateliers '63 in Haarlem and received in 1981 his first solo exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Late eighties he exhibited at the Jewish Museum in New York. From 1982 to 2005 he taught painting at the Christian Academy in Kampen.
In 1989, he first exhibited in the Joods Historische Museum. There he made one Impressive Sukkah cabin consisting of seven panels painted on both sides. His work is in the collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Jewish Historical Museum and the Akzo Nobel Art Foundation. For the New Jewish Museum of Jewish History Museum recently made three major stained glass pieces with the Kabbalistic Tree of Life with the Ten Sefirot.
In the mid-seventies Eli Content (Vevey, Switzerland, 1943) made his debut with extremely severe-looking, minimalistic paintings. At he same time he also made much looser cut outs with Matisse-like ornaments. This freedom he has always granted himself. He cannot and will not deprive himself nor the beholder.
In a letter dated October 12th 2012 he writes: The world that I want to show is more than just one uniform thing –as is usual in the art world- my world is manifold and is not restricted by just one style. His whole life he has been fascinated by the account of the Creation as described in the Bible Book of Genesis. “Whether this is true or not is unimportant to me. It is true because I think it is beautiful. Isabelle Ferlay and Frédérique Bourguet founded their ceramic workshop in Vallauris in 1953, which they named "Les Argonautes", in reference to the famous Greek epic.
Isabelle studied painting at the Fine Arts school of Lyon in 1940, then she attended the Fine Arts in Marseille. Finally, she finished her artistic training in Montpellier, at the Fontcarade national school, where she learned ceramics.
Françoise dit Frédérique Bourguet studied at the Beaux-Arts in Montpellier until 1945 and it was in Sèvres, in Françoise Bizette's studio, that she trained in the art of ceramics. She created her first workshop in Paris in 1945, which she shared with Valentine Schlegel until 1951. The two women ceramicists then practiced
modeling technique. It was in 1953 that she met Isabelle Ferlay and together, they decided to set up a workshop in Vallauris. They produce
shaped pieces, sometimes molded, made of earthenware, enamelled in bright colors. In the 1970s they made stoneware cooked over a wood fire. Some ceramists frequented their workshop, notably the very talented Jacques Innocenti and François Raty.

Nathaniel Davies was born in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, and studied at the Cardiff School of Art, where he was taught by Ceri Richards. In 1942 his studies were put on hold as he was called up for war service. After demobilisation, Davies completed his studies at Cardiff and, with a letter of recommendation from Ceri Richards, was awarded a teaching post at Newton Abbot Art School.

Chuck Close is an American painter and photographer who achieved fame as a photorealist, through his massive-scale portraits. Though a catastrophic spinal artery collapse in 1988 left him severely paralyzed, he has continued to paint and produce work that remains sought after by museums and collectors. Throughout his career, Close has endeavored to expand his contribution to portraiture through the mastery of such varied drawing and painting techniques as ink, graphite, pastel, watercolor, conte´ crayon, finger painting, and stamp-pad ink on paper; printmaking techniques, such as Mezzotint, etching, woodcuts, linocuts, and silkscreens; as well as handmade paper collage, Polaroid photographs, Daguerreotypes, and Jacquard tapestries. His early airbrush techniques inspired the development of the ink jet printer. Working from a gridded photograph, Close builds his images by applying one careful stroke after another in multi-colors or grayscale. He works methodically, starting his loose but regular grid from the left hand corner of the canvas. His works are generally larger than life and highly focused. Close has been a printmaker throughout his career, with most of his prints published by Pace Editions, New York. He made his first serious foray into print making in 1972, when he moved himself and family to San Francisco to work on a mezzotint at Crown Point Press for a three-month residency. In 1986 he went to Kyoto to work with Tadashi Toda, a highly respected woodblock printer. In 1995, curator Colin Westerbeck used a grant from the Lannan Foundation to bring Close together with Grant Romer, director of conservation at the George Eastman House.
