About the Item

Sluots Birds in Spring of Memfatna is a painting realized by Iranian Painter and Poet Parimah Avani in 2021. Acrylic on ivory-colored cardboard. Hand-signed and dated. Very good conditions. The artwork is poetically created through expressionistic brush strokes. The harmonious background refers to a mysterious spring with vivid and dynamic colors Sluots birds are fantasy bird of Avani’s Antalus world Building and were published firstly in the book” The Magic Scroll of Antalus”, The Antalus world is an archaic literally continent with its proper created handwriting and the cultural ritual world and many lands with thousands of different tradition and many created creatures and healing plants. Memfatna is one of these Lands that has the biggest Magic Garden in the Antalus world with thousands of strange and exotic plants and vegetables. Here is what Avani writes about Sluots ”One-winged birds come to the eyes of those who hope to discover the past and its meanings in the future and other lives, and us? We are the ones who see the sluts. Slouts are landless birds. Slouts mate between four and six in the morning. Slouts are silent. Slouts never sing. Slouts are colorless, so they are not easily seen. They dream all of their lives to be in the Garden of Memfatna” The various layer is made perfectly by the expression of brushes, which makes this series unique: is deeply behind the dynamic emotion of each bird with its abstract form. Her artworks artwork has evident characteristics, firstly strongly inspired by Tachisme's “Abstraction lyrique" and artworks of Henri Michaux, and Hans Hurting, and secondly, oriental calligraphy and intuitively transformation of oriental features into contemporary language by subtle application. Antalus World building is visual and literary production that will be continued by the Fourth book of Avani “Healing Castel” novel and the First book of this series “ The magic Scroll of Antalus” published in 2020 in has been among the finalists for the “Shamlu” literature and Poetry award in 2021. Her artworks are inspired by calligraphy and have strong attention to creating new letters and forms by deconstructing them, motifs, and repetition harmoniously in a neat composition, each reminding mysterious words or rebuilding new facts in the mentioned world. The style of Persian calligraphy and her literary knowledge let her create a visual poem in an expressionistic style, which is congruent with the title. The story behind the title and world-building in her artworks gives profound meaning to visual representation. The use of space and maintaining an empty background has been made to emphasize the solitude and loneliness of abstract creatures and at the same time connect to oriental calligraphy in which empty space has the same value as the filled one, succeeding to create pure incarnation. Rhapsody of Freedom - Paint by Parimah Avani - 2023
Located in Roma, IT
Rhapsody of Freedom is realized by Iranian Painter and Poet Parimah Avani in 2023. Sumi, Persian ink, and acrylic on kraft paper. Hand-signed and dated. Excellent conditions. From the series "Resistance and Alchemical Metals" The artwork is expressively poetic, with an exclusive title that refers to the socio-political context, and the application of limited color of metals" various copper, gold, silver, bronze" have metaphorical features of alchemy. In this series artist took positions, and gestures of revolutionary and rebellious bodies on the battlefield of revolution and transformed them dynamically into precious sources of resistance by spiritual transitions of colors akin to alchemy, meat, and blood found their symbolic meaning through colors and expressive brushstrokes, metals here refer to bodies of freedom seekers, shapable, flexible, shiny and a source of strength, that highlights how a body becomes a battlefield, a golden source of sacrifice, a silver font of resistance, copper as blood and women fighting for freedom.  What makes this series unique: it is deeply behind the dynamic emotion of each gestural figure, in a minimalistic manner, and the vigorous and unbridled energy of brushstrokes, is raw, spontaneous, and emotionally charged.  Her works in this series challenge oppression and gender-related issues by applying oriental brushstrokes of calligraphy in ink as a primary tool, to fragile subjects. Parimah Avani, born in 1988 in Tehran, Iran, is a multidisciplinary artist and a recognized figure in contemporary hermetic Persian literature and the avant-garde "Other" movement. Her book, "Magic Verses of Antalus," was a finalist for the prestigious "Shamlou" Award. Her most recent achievement is winning an art competition for a scholarship from Werkstatt Plettenberg in Germany, culminating in a solo exhibition held at the Gallery of the German Bank of Sparkasse. Avani's artistic journey began with travels to China and Russia during her formative years, oriental philosophies, particularly Zen and Buddhism, and folk arts ignited her passion for comparative mythology evident in her archaic style. In 2009, she moved to Rome, Italy to study multimedia art, and gained a Master’s in painting at the Fine Art Academy of Rome. Immersed in cultural parallels between East and West, mythological themes transcend boundaries in art, exploring magic and ancient scripts inspired by the scholarly insights of Frazer and Eliade on rituals. Her anthropological view culminated in a Ph.D. in the history of...
