About the Item

TIDEPOOLS Series: “[This series] is an ever-changing fluid eco-world that is filled with life. I can not help but reflect upon these tiny systems, a microcosm of the larger cycle of life that which sustains me. These works have been inspired by my walks along the Connecticut and New York Sound. I am moved to awe and wonder as the tide pool reflects the sky, seeing the birds above and creatures below interacting as if they actually were. The fluid dynamics of the water, the pull of the tides by the moon, the swirls of wind and the changes of the atmosphere which surrounds me becomes my muse. Aquaessence is a material and method using hand-mixed pigments in a water-based acrylic gouache with some works having metallic and/or mica particles.” As an American artist, Wright’s travels have taken him to paint and/or teach throughout the United States and visiting over a dozen National Park sites in addition to Italy, France, Ireland, Austria, England, West Indies, Central and South America, and China. His work focuses on the Preservation and Progress of Impressionism. "I look to enhance natural beauty by bringing forth the transcendent and the invisible of what is occurring as if what is below the surface, for my brush is dancing upon the atoms of colors." This Painting will be shipped directly from the artist's studio.

Abstract 1 (Abstract Painting on Board with Metallic Copper Leaf)
By James O'Shea
Located in Hudson, NY
Abstract mixed media painting on board made with copper leaf and accents of blue, green, and sienna oil paint "Abstract 1", Painted by Hudson Valley based artist, James O'Shea in 2021 Oil, copper leaf, and pencil on board 10 x 10 inches unframed, 12 x 12 x 2 inches in an off-white painted wood floater frame Wire backing, ready to hang Excellent condition James O’Shea’s deeply pigmented abstractions are grounded in the landscape. Taking his cues from the bare winter months in the Northeast when the horizon is stripped of its foliage, he suggests that “So much of life’s structure reveals itself when it goes into hibernation”. The architecture in O’Shea’s compositions takes form with expressive gestures using...
