Watercolor and collaged elements , dominantly grey and off-white, with small notes of blue, pale green. On Japanese handmade paper. Otto Donald Rogers was born in 1935 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. He taught at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, from 1959 – 1988, after receiving his Master’s in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin. He was instrumental in sustaining the Emma Lake Workshops, which, for several generations, has provided a meeting point for some of North America’s most respected visual artists, among them Jack Shadbolt, Helen Frankenthaler, Barnet Newman...

Layered over these central marks is a structure of stacked, collaged geometric strips of paper painted with intersecting lines and shapes of marine blue, red and white. This work is unframed. Layered over these central marks is a central collaged strip of paper highlighted in ultra marine blue and grey topped by a tache of white paint. This is balanced by a horizontal strip in white and grey at the foot of the composition held down by another white swipe of white acrylic. A small horizontal collaged rectangle at the upper left keeps the eye moving upwards in the picture plane. This work is unframed. Please ask us about framing options.
