Dirk van der Meulen (from 1982: Dirk Lumen), born 1945 in Gronau/Westphalia. Studied Protestant theology, art history and architecture at the University of Münster from 1965 to 1968 and at the State Academy of Fine Arts Berlin from 1968 to 1975. Master student of Fred Thieler. 1970 co-founder of the KWARZ group. 1988 to 2004 supervised the class of Prof. Georg Baselitz, UdK Berlin.
