By embracing uncertainty, she keeps her paintings open and evolving, allowing them to breathe with depth and life. A dedicated daily practice has been central to Burtis’ artistic journey since 2005, yielding over 6,500 small works that inform her larger abstract paintings and collages. She studied Religion and Art History at Carleton College before earning a BFA in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art. Her work is widely collected and has been exhibited nationally, including at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Burtis lives in San Francisco and works out of her studio in Sausalito.
