About the Item

Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar’s paintings are nature-based abstractions, composed through harmonious movement, material improvisation and layers of translucent color. The paintings bare resemblance to elements in nature while simultaneously departing from literal representations. Each painting seeks a level of reservation as well as an embrace of the unforeseeable. Her relationship with painting is very physical. The artist’s process is to manipulate the surface of each piece, granting the work a sculptural quality. Moving around the painting, positioning themselves to direct paint flow from specific angles. The process lends itself to the build-up of layers, capturing traces of time and movement. The practice is both seductive and uncertain. Fluid media is sensitive to its environment; a deep breath, a slight shift of focus, a sound in the distance all impact the process, causing the marks to sway from their predetermined path. Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar was born in Minsk, Belarus and moved to the United States at the age of nine. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbus State University. Most recent exhibitions were at Laura Rathe Fine Art, TX; Spalding Nix Fine Art, GA; Samuel Owen Gallery, FL; ABV Gallery, GA; and the Gibbes Museum of Art, SC. Her works are included in public collections at the Ritz-Carlton, FL; Chevron Headquarters, CA; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY; Mount Sinai, NY, among others. Savashynskaya Dunbar currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina.

Liz Barber's organic abstract paintings are layered bursts of energy inspired by nature’s movement. Forms and lines fall into a sea of emotion. Shapes and reflections drift into volumetric configurations. She pours colors onto the canvas and watches what happens. Intuitively, she then edits. Barber uses a form of mixed media which allows for more creative freedom and gives the materials a voice. This painting makes a beautiful pair with the Liz Barber painting, "Magnolia 2...

This painting makes a beautiful pair with the Liz Barber painting, "Magnolia 1." The most common reoccurring theme in Barber’s work is the ocean or natural elements and forms. The shapes serve as anchors for the mind to stop and reflect upon. They can be ambiguous or recognizable forms based on what the viewer brings to the piece. Barber leans towards distinctive color palettes at certain times of the year as the seasons change. They are either subtle or intense color interaction...

Magnolia No. 10
By Jeri Eisenberg
Located in Tulsa, OK
Magnolia, No. 10, by artist Jeri Eisenberg is a soft pink, and green contemporary triptych made of Archival pigment ink on Japanese Kozo with encaustic medium, that measures 36 x 34 and is priced at $3,150. Magnolia, No. 10 Edition: 4/12, 2010 *Price differs with top bars only $3000* Jeri Eisenberg works primarily with non-traditional and alternative photo-based techniques. She represses or subverts traditional photography’s emphasis on the representational qualities of the medium, and emphasizes instead the medium’s expressive nature. She employs a strong sense of materiality and seductive surfaces in her work, to evoke sense memories and visceral connections. Her work steadfastly serves as an affirmation of beauty in the everyday natural world, but is tinged with the bittersweet - a reminder of the temporal condition, and an elegy for life.
