About:
The [ Sunlit series ] is an exploration of the colour yellow and its positive healing effect on us. Shizico painted these Nostalgia Triptych (in Ink and Gold leaf on canvass) in early autumn when Dahlias take centre stage in her garden.
The pictorial language in this series pays homage to Japanese Woodblock prints; Shizico employs Dahlias which bloom in late summer and autumn, brighten up the early winter chill, symbolising regeneration and hope and longevity;
the presence of the cat watching the sunset captured serenity and meditative moments in daily life; with a glance to her domestic blissful life, a tea pot and her beloved cat, sunsets and sunrises in between, these paintings telling a poetic portrait of an artist.
[ Nostalgia Series ] nestles within her "Golden Period," a profound exploration centred around the captivating hue of yellow. It is a colour Shizico believes having the healing power for those afflicted by grief according to her very personal experience.
Renowned for her expressive Ink drawing and its distinctive visual language, Shizico captures the raw essence of her artistic vision in this painting with Gold Leaf and Ink on canvas; documents and preserves the fleeting beauty of the seasons and the sweet memories it holds, froze in time on paper.

About the Artist
Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories .
With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large. Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London.
She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
