He was once a professor in the Department of Fine Arts during 1980s in Tianjin Polytechnic University and currently lives and works in Song Zhuang artist village in Beijing, China. Zhuangzi et Laozi’s philosophy has exercised a great influence on Xia’s artworks.

Xia FuNing
Painter Xia Fu-Ning references the teachings of ancient Chinese philosophers Zhuangzi and Lao Tzu in his paintings to share aspects of Taoism, a major source of artistic and spiritual inspiration. Using a contemporary abstract painting approach, he invites viewers to let go, look within, and consider ideas from all angles.
Born in 1962 in Nanjing in the eastern Jiangsu province of China, Fu-Ning later moved north to teach as a professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Tianjin Polytechnic University. Alongside his career in education, he developed an innovative oil painting practice where monochromatic colors evoke enigmatic scenes.
Fu-Ning’s dark, ethereal work has been exhibited in major art institutions including the National Art Museum of China in 2013 and the Wu Art Center in 2015 with fellow Chinese contemporary artists Lu Zhengyuan and He Wenjue.

Artist Biography
Qiu Ting was born 1971 in Luhe, Guangdong province. In 1992, he enrolled in the traditional Chinese painting department of China Academy of Art to study landscape painting,and graduated with a master's degree in 2000. In 2004, he earned his doctorate in fine arts from Tsinghua University. He is presently vice-president in the traditional Chinese painting department of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China.
