Kerry Louise Bennett, artist and painter, has original artworks available with Wychwood Art in our gallery and online. Working from her home studio in Sheffield, Kerry Louise Bennett (b.1972) makes colourful paintings loaded with texture and pattern. Her previous lives working in set design, upholstery and photography, and her passion for music and literature, all feed into the semi-abstract interior and still life compositions she paints. In one sense the objects painted and the relationships between them can be seen as arbitrary, necessary only to serve a sense of spatial orchestration, and the abstract sensibility of a process-led artist, however, an element of romance and storytelling always seems to emerge in her charming characterful paintings. Colour and composition, strong mark-making and the pure materiality of paint drive my creative practice, but of course everything I make reveals something of me - the introvert, the observer, the dreamer. I work over multiple layers before finding the story the painting wants to tell. In some ways I feel like the conductor of an unruly orchestra - there is a musicality to my work, and my visual vocabulary draws on the everyday to capture a kind of unconscious narrative that transforms chaos into calm, worry into joy, the mundane to the magical. Kerry says of herself: I am obsessed with colour first and foremost – it’s impact is so visceral, but mark making is also important – usually expressed through pattern and the shapes of things often scratched into the surface of the paint, with textures then built up over many layers. Helen Clark Oldfield was born in Santa Rosa. Her father, James E. Clark, invested in local hops farms. He was a director of the first Santa Rosa Bank.
Oldfield lived at 547 Mendocino Avenue, in one of the finest custom-built homes in town. She was the oldest child of the family. They spent summers in their beach cabin at Jenner-by-the-Sea.
She was a good student and graduated from DeWitt Montgomery High in Santa Rosa with college standard grades. Unfortunately, this idyllic situation tumbled down suddenly. due to a fraud scandal at the Bank, her father forfeited most of his assets in order to make good on his client's losses.
At the time when her high school friends were going east to college, Oldfield followed her family to a new life of farming. She found this life frustrating as there was little time for her interests after conclusion of her daily duties. Here she developed her natural gift for sophisticated needle work. At the time she also took a correspondence course in industrial design and became an expert tailor.
Her family was not happy with the farming arrangement. They decided to move to Oakland. In 1921 they purchased a home at 318...

Francisco Bores López (Madrid, May 5, 1898 - Paris, May 10, 1972) was a Spanish painter of the so-called New School of Paris.
His artistic training originated both in the Cecilio Pla painting academy, where he met Pancho Cossío, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz or Joaquín Peinado, and in the literary gatherings in Madrid related to ultraism.
At this time he made engravings and woodcuts for a large number of magazines such as Horizonte, Cruz y Raya, Index, Revista de Occidente. In 1922 he participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts.
In 1925 he participated in the first exhibition of the Iberian Artists Society. The limited success of this exhibition pushes him to go to Paris. In this city he shared a studio with the Spanish painter Pancho Cossío and also met Picasso and Juan Gris.
In 1927 he held his first solo exhibition in Paris. From this moment on, Bores integrates himself into the Parisian artistic environment where he will live practically his entire life. In 1928, his first exhibition in a gallery in the United States, in 1930 he exhibited again, within a group exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
In the following years, he continued exhibiting in different galleries in Paris, such as the Georges Petit Gallery, the Bernheim Gallery and the Vavin Raspail Gallery. He also participates in several group exhibitions, highlighting the Exhibition of Contemporary Spanish Art...

ABOUT
Born in 1967, Piussi was raised in Florence where he studied at the Istituto d’arte, majoring in sculpture and painting and completing his artistic education at Milano’s Brera Art Academy. He lives in Florence, pursuing painting, bas-reliefs in terracotta and in bronze, and bronze sculpture.
Piussi presents an ideal, almost childlike world which can be found below everyday events, a step outside the flow of time, yet still a part of contemporary life, with a nod to Alex Katz and David Hockney. The drama, or lack thereof, is played out in simplified, almost abstract spaces. Pure in intent, Piussi’s oeuvre are inspired by the Early Renaissance.
Snapshot images of a world reduced to its essence, the apparently comic-book style has echoes of Giotto, Paolo Uccello, of medieval illuminations. Rather than mimicking the appearance of nature, Piussi reaches for its essence, without distracting details. Women stand on the shore of quintessentially peaceful seas, self-contained, at ease, unwitting replicas of classical goddesses - a proud diver echoes Neptune holding a trident.
