About the Item
An oil painting of a man resting on a bed. His arms reach to the left of the panel, and one leg bent, the other extending towards the end of the bed and the viewer. The edges of the bed are closely framed in the composition, with the repeating shapes of the blankets, bed frame and shadows angling to the lower righthand corner, coming to rest at a point on the frame. The blues, warm grays and browns in the painting, along with the comforting feeling of the folds in the bedsheets may bring to mind Toulouse-Lautrec's "In Bed, The Kiss", as if the viewer has walked into a sweet and intimate moment.

Artist Bio
Rachel Personett was born in Hawaii, but raised in Colorado. Being the daughter of a pilot she has always traveled extensively. She has studied part time at the Savannah College of Art and Design, The Angel Academy of Art, and finally settled on the Florence Academy of Art, graduating in 2015. In January 2016 she apprenticed the painter Odd Nerdrum in Norway for eight months. Rachel Personett works strictly from life, and enjoys the challenged of painting the ephemeral. Working from life provides the opportunity to travel around the world painting the ever changing people and landscapes.
