Rosenthal (Original Artwork - Listed Artist) Dates: 1863-1939 Signature/Date/Other: Signed lower right (A.Rosenthal). On the frame back is written "Albert Rosenthal". Nationality: American Subject or Title: Brightly colored scene of a fisherman in a boat. A dirt road parallels the meandering river, which is surrounded by trees and golden meadows. A small village with distant mountains is seen in the background. (Liner is slightly dirty and can be cleaned or better yet, painted to be any color to pick up some of the colors seen in the piece!) Size/Sight: Approximately 11" by 10" Frame: Approximately 20x18" (possibly the original frame) Frame and liner could be cleaner or painted. Removing old varnish and applying new varnish would make this piece even brighter. Frame width is about 4 inches. A new frame would make this piece of art pop even more... Media: Oil on Masonite/Board Condition: No Known Issues - A Beautifully Bright Piece! Comments/Other: Very well listed American artist - Albert Rosenthal (1863-1939). He had a strong affiliation with Philadelphia. His oils are listed in Davenport's, Askart, Artprice, Who's Who, etc. Note - Many years ago in an antique store in California, saw a framed lithograph of this scene; this could be the original piece the lithograph was created from.
