Description: An evocative British watercolour painting by Tony Herbert 1927 to 2024 capturing a quiet estuary or coastal ferry point with small wooden sheds foreground grasses and a misty harbour town in the distance. One building is marked with the word Ferry and a faint inscription underneath possibly referencing Southwold suggesting a location along the East Anglian coast. A few solitary figures and a moored rowing boat give the scene human presence without overpowering the natural atmosphere.
Herbert’s masterful use of muted colour and loose expressive brushwork gives this painting a peaceful and moody feel with overcast skies reflected in the soft grey water.
