About the Artist
Bai Shuai was born in 1993 in Dezhou, Shandong, China. He is a member of Shandong Artists Association, art advisor of Antai Industrial Rizhao Center - Art Museum, special painter of Wu Guanzhong Art Gallery, member of Ninety Creative Painting Society, and contract painter of Classic Exchange. During his school years, he won many scholarships, excellent graduates and national scholarships. His works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China and Wu Guanzhong Art Gallery. 2016, he graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Qufu Normal University with a bachelor's degree; 2020, he received a master's degree from the Oil Painting Department of Qufu Normal University under the supervision of Professor Li Shangyang; now he teaches at Shandong Huayu Engineering College and is a doctoral candidate at Moscow State Pedagogical University.
"The River with Mountains" is an abstract realistic work that I conceived in one go, borrowing roots, rocks and water flow, symbolizing the longevity of the Yellow River and the endlessness of Chinese culture. My fascination with details and Chinese landscapes has always led me to look for an oil painting with elements of Chinese painting. I chose tree roots, rocks and water flow as my main subject matter, one reason being that their growth is both tangible and intangible, which maximally meets my requirement for abstract realism, and is shaped by the image. This work has also been dedicated to the arrangement of the sense of form, the formation of details is not directly copied from the image of the original object, but according to the natural formation of brush strokes in the picture to follow its natural texture changes, color is also very important to me, in the picture, in fact, we see the color is very single, but it is in this single to find similar to the "light In the picture, in fact, although the color we see is very single, but it is to find a feeling similar to "light" in this single, harmonious change." --Bai Shuai
