About the Item
'Golden Grasses No.1 & No.2'
Acrylic, moulding medium, Gesso and composite gold leaf on canvas board
Each panel 25x50 cm
I use the moulding paste to create the structure of the picture. This produces a tangibly dimensional look and feel. After being gessoed, I then paint on this relief with high-quality, heavy-body acrylic paint and use composite gold leaf to accentuate the relief. The end result is a unique and impactful artwork which tends to draw the viewer in.
These paintings are inspired by my local waysides in Wiltshire, UK, and the wonderful shapes and forms of different species of grasses and wild flowers. How beautiful such simple things in nature can be!
This painting is on a canvas-covered board - no glass required.
The painting has several coats of a gloss varnish for UV and dirt protection.
It is signed and dated on the back.

Inspired by nature - Carolyn creates/sculpts the picture first in a plaster made from marble dust and a binder. She then paints the sculpted image using heavy-body acrylics to create vivid and impactful paintings with a highly visible relief and an attractive 3-dimensional feel. Her deep sense of connection to the earth and her love for flowers, plants and the countryside reveal themselves in her more abstract works which are lively and intense in their character.
